Hot Rods Replacement for Chevy truck windshield regulator

Since the windshield regulator is not reproduced for a 1937 Chevy truck (and pretty pricey for an original) I'm looking for a cheap way to keep the swing out function of the windshield. Has anyone used the sliders like in a Model A or similar in a non Ford application? If you have please post some pics and let me know how well it does or doesn't work. Thanks.
