Anybody got suggestions for a rag joint type manual steering box relacement for a '65 Comet. It looks like a box from about '68-'71 Falcon, Mustang, Torino would bolt in. It would require cutting the old shaft, and I ***ume would require welding a flange on it to receive the rag coupler. I found a couple of threads that talked about making a bushing for the lower end of the column to support the end of the cut shaft. I'm not sure about pitman arm compatability either. Anyone had any experience trying all this -without pulling the engine? Thanks - Mike

Didn't the early Mustang use a lot of Comet/Falcon parts ?

Yes I think they did, but I'm trying to update it to the rag joint style box instead of using the old one piece steering shaft.

Maybe hit a Restomod board, and see what the Mustang guys are using.
