    Howdy.
This is probably a dumb question, but I'm not smart enough to figure out the transverse sprung geometry with relation to the front radius rods. The car is a '27 rod with a SuperBell straight axle, with clevis connections on the axle ends of the hairpins. I want to replace the rod-end frame bushings; can I just leave the car sitting on the ground and take off the bushings, or do I need to jack it up by the frame so that the front suspension is hanging? Or what is the best way to replace them without the front-end getting misaligned?
    Thanks!!

Put a jack under the frame in the area where the rear of the hairpin connects. Remove the mount bolt, the wishbone may move up or down a little; but should be easy to move back into place on re***embly. Push out the tube in the center, remove the two halves of the old bushing, put the the new bushing halves in place, push in the center tube, and bolt it up. Repeat on the other side. If you are replacing complete ends, measure the length, remove the old one, and install the new one to the same length.

    Good to resist gravity somewhat.

If you need to take the bushing off the hairpin so it can be worked on on the bench (they can get hard to get in or out, so vice can help) measure the exposed threads with vernier (or just use calipers) to maintain geometry.

    Silicon grease on re***embly.
