I have to replace Ignition Switch Rack in a 1978 Olds Cutlass Tilt Steering Column fitted to a '47 Ford Coupe. I need advice as to whether this can be done in the car or does the column have to be removed? Also, can anyone tell me where I can purchase nylon bushes for the advance weights in a standard GM V8 HEI Distributor? GM have discontinued these. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. Bazz from Australia.:(

Try this business, there are others out there as well. Insofar as bushes are concerned I'd try an ignition shop over there. GMC Bubba is a HAMBER and might have them or know where to get them

There's a good guide to completely rebuilding the GM column, if you Google for it. That should show enough to decide whether the column has to come out, or you can do it in place.

  4. The bushings were supplied in some of the aftermarket weights kits. Kits used to alter your advance.
