I'm starting the work on the front clip, I've removed all the rotted rubber moldings/anti squeek / apron parts and have new ones on order. I'm wondering if anyone else has replaced this stuff and if so, what did you use in place of the old rusted, thick body staples? had a friend recommend small SS bolts with washers, but if there are replacement staples on the market, I'd like to go that route. Suggestions?
Ferell I replaced the anit-squeak rubbers and used pop rivets. The rubber did come with new staples, it just looked like too much of a fiddle to install them.
yea I figured, I might to small SS screws and washers. Should still look good. I got the rubber and guards from Mac's & Dennis carpenter. The guards I believe I got from Mac's. Under $20
There is a place called Steele Rubber Products that has rubber and weatherstripping for our cars. I talked to them a few months ago, and they have everything for my 54 Customline in a kit that only costs $800. The website is www.steelerubber.com and the phone number is 800-544-8665.
Mac's has them. Most are shown or listed on page 202 of their latest catalog (the one with the green '56 wagon on front) or you can go online. http://macsautoparts.com/1949-1959-ford-mercury-p***enger-car-parts/camid/F50/ca/146/

www.cl***icautoparts.com has them too, order their 365 page catalog you will find things others don't carry.
Dennis Carpenter is the vendor who actually manufactures the rubber that most of the other vendors are selling. It's not cheap, but it is absolutely first cl***. Also...check out my build page at 1954.com to see how I did this job....using rivets. Here's the link http://1954ford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=524&start=190
