A**** my limited (21), 124/125, die cast collection sits a 124th or 124th model of this most awesome Machine. I was at Chicago race way and debated all day about buying it. I was showing a '66 Rivi. with factory dual quads, (one of 169), the factory Burgundy. done in base clear, and decided I just had to have it. That was at least (10) years back. Wife: "how much was that"?. Me, "Oh not that much". Her: "how much"?, Me: " twenty five and change." The truth, $165.00. Today it is the most respected in my collection.

Thanks for the engine mounting pictures I see that I will be reworking the rear mount to the frame. Great pictures please keep posting more when you can. I plan on completing the engines first and then move to the frame. Any dimensions would be appreciated, right now I am estimating the wheel base at 110 inches. Thanks again for great pictures.

Got some time to work on the fuel manifold and fuel line connections. The manifold required the milling of 10 1/16" holes in it.
    SB Engine 54.jpg
Here are the the individual part turnings for the fuel line connections using 3/32" square and hex bar stock. The double ended hex part was inserted into the square part and soldered in place. The aluminum sleeve is to represent the swag on the fuel line.
    SB Engine 55.jpg

Here are the parts are test fitted on the first engine. The manifold has been painted but just resting against the bracket for now. I need to now find some tube for the fuel lines. The fuel lines will slip fit on the extensions beyond the aluminum sleeves. The top hole on the side is for the lever arm and the hole on the top is the fuel feed connection.
    SB Engine 56.jpg
Now to turn parts for the next three engines as time permits.

Here is a test fit of the fuel lines using 22 gauge copper wire with the copper core pulled out of the black vinyl coating then pressed on the fittings. I also fabricated the fuel fitting on top of the manifold for the hard fuel line from the fuel pump. The manifold is out of place due to the pressure of the lines. Now to make the next three sets.

I moved on to turning fitting only to run out of 3/32" hex bar. Went to reorder only to find out the supplier I have used for years has been restructured and no longer carrying hex bar and also raised their minimum order from $20 to $100 in one move with no notice. WOW. I found a supplier in Germany but they do not sell to U.S. customers, but a friend has an import business with them as a customer so he will add my order to his. Just do not know when I will get the Hex bar I need. Given that I studied what to do next, I have enough fitting for one more engine. As I studied photos I realized that my first set of fuel pumps under the distributors were made too small, so I rebuilt them completely to what I felt was a better size now that I have other components to compare to. I milled location holes for the manifolds and glued them in place in order to start the hard fuel feed lines from the pumps to the manifolds. Following the only top view closeup photo these are the results as best I can sort out for now. I hand made the hex fittings filing round bar stock to form the bent fittings and blue connections. The line is formed 1/16" aluminum tube which I think works well at this scale.

Next I will now add the fuel lines to the second engine on this bank. After that I may break down all the engines build parts in photos supplied by dreracecar and paint the resin parts while I wait for the Hex Bar to come from Germany.

Great detail pictures and I see I have a few modifications to make once I get the hex bar on the end of the pumps. Glad you posted linkage details as well, I was wondering how the linkage for both engines was linked. Thanks again for great pictures! Ken

Question, it looks like a larger slip rod with a lever connects the linkage end to end. Does that lever connect the linkage side to side to the opposite lever?

The rod end on the right connected to the pedal , the left one linked to a shaft that went down (left side of the exhaust) and rotated a shaft that linked the two injectors together, The bell crank was triangle shaped and the rod ends crossed each other on oppisite sides.
Story about the linkage----- I wanted to match the correct rod ends to the new build instead of using more common pieces. In those days in SoCal there were many Aircraft surplus places because of the industry here, and one could buy bits and pieces for pennies on the dollar. Well that's changed!! New matching aircraft rod ends were $125 ea with paperwork. And I needed 8 R & L. I was able to locate some surplus ones, Not the same brand but very very close to the originals for $18 100_0478.JPG ea, problem was they were ALL-- left hand threaded. Sooooo if you ever get close enough to the clone and look at the linkage, the rod between the female rod ends are threaded both sides--Left hand

I like the clecos holding the bell crank in place. If I remember correctly copper color was the 1/8" size. Where is the support bar that is welded to the tube located? I am thinking at the rear near the ****pit? Thanks again for your efforts with pictures! I have already modified the fuel pumps and I ordered a rotary table for my Sherline Mill that is to be delivered by end of day. That will be used to drill holes for the end plate bolt heads. Always like getting new toys, but I just buy on an as needed basis.

My order from Sherline arrived and I setup my rotary table to mill the holes for the 1mm bolts in the front plate of the fuel pump. I love my new toy, nothing like having the right tool for the job at hand.
    DSCN4330.jpg
I added the fuel lines to the second engine, also the linkage arm between engines, and the oil filler caps.
    DSCN4347.jpg
Here is an overview of the two engines.
    DSCN4341_edited-1.jpg
This shows the revised fuel pump with front plate in place.
    DSCN4351.jpg
Here is the front engine oil filler, I pondered making the cap to be removable but decided that they would just get lost so I made one part.

Now to duplicate parts for the other the right bank of engines before breaking the engine ***embly down for painting and part fabrication based upon the great pictures being posted.

Finished duplicating the parts for the second set of engines and still waiting for the hex bar order to come so I moved on to milling and drilling the distributors for the spark plug wires. The main body is polished aluminum with a black bottom band and the brownish top. Then started the wingnuts for the valve cutters. I decided to use threaded rod since I could not get a consistent cut on rod for the 00-90 threads. Each wing nut needs 5 individual parts.

Now to finish up the balance of the wing nuts.

What you see as a "black band" around the bottom of the Magneto is a degree ring for timing, and off the head there is a 2 bolt plate with a wire pointer, these were chromed on the "showboat 100_0337.JPG

Still waiting for the hex bar to arrive along with an order of bolts. I moved on and made one engine connector shield and ordered a set of wheels to be CNC cut for Dancing Bear Components.
Here are in progress steps making the shield. One done one to go.

Here are 3D images of the wheels from Dancing Bear that I am waiting for. They will be split in half with a stepped joint to ***emble into the tires.
    Below is the front wheel.

Completed the second shield and moved on to the spark plugs. I started with 3/16" diameter aluminum rod and turned down the basic shape of the spark plugs with a spacer to be used when milling the hex portion. The excess spacer was then removed with the lathe. The plugs were drilled to receive the plug wire like the distributors. The insulator section will be painted white. Here are some build images.

In seeing this picture I would say you are correct. I wish I had seen this picture sooner unfortunately he may be cutting them already. I just may have to live with what I get. Do you have an email that you can share? Mine is kencforan@gmail.com I have questions on the ch***is that I am sure you can answer rather than me guesstimating certain sizes of items and details.
