REPRO not REPO

Don't know why, but using dizzy for distributor really bugs the hell out of me.

Bugs me too. Not as bad as when people say "Chev" short for "Chevy" which is already short for "Chevrolet"! Pretty soon they will just be using a "C". Is it really that much effort to throw the "Y" in there? Did it really need to be shorter? "Repo" parts makes it sound like someone came and took your stuff.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot "Chebby". Thats funny if you're Cheech.

 

...And it's GAUGES.....not GUAGES as in Stewart-Warner gauges....NOT Stuart Werner guages!....Sheeesh.

I've known "Chev" as a spoken direct abbreviation for "Chevrolet" since childhood. It's been in common use in my part of the world all along. Even the Xhosas and Zulus call the new Daewoo-Chevrolets "iChev".

Not so sure about that one. Chev is an abbreviation for Chevrolet. Chevy is some cutesy derivative. Can't see a "y" anywhere in Chevrolet.

Somewhat O.T. but:
De po-lease busted a major drug dizzy hear last weak.

 

I had a set of repo El-de-brock heads one time. Prolly were not NORS , so I traded them for a dizzy out of a Camero and the guy added the ****** to the trade.

 

Umm, advice and advise. I see it here all the time...

 

Just to be the devil's advocate maybe the repo guys think it is short for repop.

I'm with you by the way it should be repro.

That's the best I can figure too(?). I'd say the re****al for that argument would be REPOP is slang for REPRODUCTION (I think we all agree on that). Do we need to shorten a slang word like REPOP by a single letter?

That's not funny I mix up by and buy at least once a week. I never catch it until 900 or so people have already read it or is that red it.
