I'm trying to identify the application of this flathead Ford generator pulley. The part number is 40 10130 (maybe a CR suffix?). Diameter is about 3.18" and it fits a 19/32" (.593") shaft. I looked in the Ford green book on pages 458-459 and see a couple pulleys of this diameter, but not with the 40 prefix. Pages 468 - 469 list the various 10130 series pulleys, but none with the 40 prefix.

I rebuild 6v generators on the side and am trying to get a few more ready for Hershey. If I know the application, I may build a generator for it. Thanks.

I have seen a pulley like that on 32 Fords, but not sure if they were stock or what the part number was.

is that a typo on the 3.18" diameter?

    maybe 4.18"? or 5.18"?

but this pulley is a 40-10130-CR, which is a different number.

Ford went to straight vanes in 38 so to me this is a 38-39 V8 60 gen pulley.

I’ve never seen one with that small of diameter. Makes sense that it would be a V8-60 part.

Yeah, he said he couldn't find anything with a 40 prefix. Mentioned it to possibly narrow it down.

pretty weird that a 60 hp part would have a 40- prefix, but I guess Fords were like that

Not a typo. The diameter is about 3.18" . Diameter at the base if the V is 2". Someone elsewhere said he found this pulley number with CR suffix in a Canadian Ford parts book with the note that it was used for obtaining normal charging rates at low driving speeds. So maybe its a Canadian part? Maybe a special order item?

Just FYI, I restore flathead generators and refurbish original cutouts. So if I can identify a solid application, I'll build a generator with it.
