Without going into all the gory details, it's been a long time since I've been in the shop with a big **** eatin grin on my face.....It happened tonite and this bike did it to me. I was paranoid about doing anything cosmetically on this bike, but I loved the rear fender..... unfortunately, the tanks didn't match. Well....I got out the lacquer thinner and a rag and tried wiping some of the black primer off and I'm diggin it!!!....Resale red at its finest!! I kinda dug the primer look before I got hooked on the HAMB, but was never sure if I should "cop out" and go with it, since I have been making stuff shiny since the middle seventies. I thought it was expected of me to keep on that track....I love the change.....Gonna look for the next "barnfresh" wheeled object and see what happens next. Merry Christmas and thanks to the HAMB and all the great folks here.
Sometime's i wonder if there isn't a chemical imbalance problem with me. What some people (not refering to you) think needs restoration i think is just right. Just get it running and have a ball! Your bike is a good example. There's just something about it, crudeness and coolness all wrapped up in one package. I'd rather have a REAL bobber than a new 'chopper' any day. But that may be that chemical thing again. Merry Christmas..and thank you!! Rat..
PackRat...I was REALLY worried about hittin it with thinner, but all's well that ends well.....Restoration complete!!!
I've spent a lot of time advising Hatch on how that bike should be done. I'm happy to report that he is finally seeing the light. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I wish everyone could see this thing in person, its so f**king cool. Your afraid to walk by it for fear of ruining some of the patina (real not fake). I'm pissed that our lovely Michigan winter is finally setteling in so it may be awhile before we can see it going down the road. I'm thinking next summer when our boy has to work every weekend I'll be ***igned to haul it to all the shows in the back of my NEW '48 F1 PU. Frank
Fab, it's funny you put "real, not fake" for patina. Thats exactly what i was thinking, and why i said i'd rather have a REAL bobber than a new chopper. I don't care if a person like's it, or hate's it, the're gonna look at it, and probably talk about it. Even without seeing the bike, you can tell it has personality. The patina on that thing can't be "bought"..it takes age to create the "look". Have fun with that thing Hatch, wish i had it! Rat..
Thats ok I know how to ride it and when ME and Frank take it shows that you CAN't go to, I'll make sure it's gets ridden
Don't tell Frank that I'm plannin on "using" him and his truck to drag me all over the country for the sole purpose of leaving him in the parking lot while I cruise non-stop picking up Hooters girls for cheap thrills and m***ive degradation.......I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!
i am really not a flat black or patina kinda guy. but, that thing is cool just like it is. i don't think you could do anything to it to make it any cooler. whats the story on it?
IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!...tanks cleaned...oil in....fresh gas....kick..kick...kick..(repeat as necessary)...WHOA MOMMA.....FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!!!!....kick...kick...kick...thumpa thumpa thumpa thumpa.....break time!!!
If Denise willing to let you have the "fur" that you were sporting at the Calander Fashion Show...cut the sleeves off of it and make it into a vest, shirt optional, and then....only then...will the look be complete! Kick *** bike, can't wait to see it! -Joe
