I am redoing the front end of my 51 Chevy and am at the point where I want to round the corners of my hood and get rid of the lower lip on the hood. I like the idea of making a gentle curve all the way across the hood and then round the corners from there. But I am having some trouble picturing exactly how it will look. I am sure this has been done before. Does anyone have any pics of hoods that have had this treatment? Here is a pic of where I am at right now: Thanks
Hey, I seem to recall the work from the Clark Kaiser shops had several builds that featured what you're after. You may wanna do some layout work with thin tape on your hood to see if you like the line you've layed down. To do this correctly will require quite a bit of good welding & some metalshaping. Ones I've seen done where they jus tacked in bits of metal with heavy mud and poor tacks soon cracked The headlamp doors & grille opening on your Chevy look good .
I have all the tools to make this correctly. I originally made my grille surround from only 2 peices, a left and a right. I just want to make sure that I get a curve that looks good. I have tried several, and the one above is the best so far.
