Is it possible to fix the splines in a steering wheel? I have a nice 51 Ford wheel, but the splines are wiped out. Hate for it to go to waste, but I haven't gotten any ideas on how to fix it.

    1. Find another wheel with the same splines.
    2. Chop away everything from the center then chuck up the hunk in a lathe and turn it down to something manageable, maybe a ¼" beyond the splines.
    3. Bore out the center of the wheel that you want to save to the diameter of the new piece above, with a press fit difference. Obviously, the new bore, as well as the od of the new piece must fit comfortably in the desired wheel center mass. Adjust the id/od as needed.
    4. Press the new spline piece into the wheel.
    5. Now drill a hole on the parting line, tap it and install a set screw.
    6. Drive it like ya stole it....

I have a donor wheel, so I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Splines are missing or splines are damaged? If they are damaged just clean them up with a needle file.
