Thank you so much! I loved hearing his stories about this community! We have loved reading all of the wonderful comments about Dad! ❤️ He was the best! I went to car shows with him but never super far away from home! Those were HIS trips he liked doing alone

Wow❤️ I remember this well! I’m Jim’s daughter! My dad and I had so much fun there! We talked about it forever! It was so fun seeing my dad’s car stick out in the sea of cars and people just admiring it! We loved going to car shows together! I hope to take his car to some shows in the future! We will continue to show off that beautiful car of his!

I’m glad you got to make so many memories together. While I did not know him he seems like a hell of a guy and he will be missed. I’m sorry for your loss, he was too young!

  12. Man, I was anxiously awaiting the day until Jim's custom roadster was all done. At least @Stogy gave us a visual of Jim's dream--thanks man. It would have been awesome. Still can't believe Jim cruised through the pearly gates. Rest in peace, Brother..........E

RIP Jim, The last time I saw Jim was in Indy for the CCR. Jim took time away from the show to stop by my motel room where I was sick as a dog. He also came back in an hour to see how I was feeling. even suggesting He would bring me to the ER which I ended up going the next morning. Jim was a great guy and supported the CCR as well as the KKOA.Jim will be deeply missed.

Besides on here, the only place I would see him in person is at CCR. Jim was the type of person that instantly made you feel like you had been friends your entire life.
I try explain to my "non-car friends" that this hobby is more about the people you meet than the cars and shows, Jim was an example of that.

I remember meeting you Adenia and was impressed by your confidence, respect and how well you carried on a conversation with us old car guys. You obviously were raised right and your father was proud of you.
Although I didn’t really know Jim. I felt like I did through his writing here and I have been thinking of Jim several times throughout the last couple of days. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I have a daughter close in age to you and it saddens me that of the moments that you won’t get to share with your father.

I do hope I continue to see that old Chevy on the road that left such an impression on me as a 16 year old kid from the first time I saw it.

I do hope the stories being shared here of your dad is giving you some comfort and peace of knowing the lives he touched from outside of Red Oak Ia.

That is my goal❤️ I’m slowly figuring out how this all works! I have learned that my dad may not have known to do much of anything on the computer but damn, he knew this website like the back of his hand! My goal today is to maybe get on his account, I’m just not sure yet! We think he had his password saved

Thank you very much❤️ we will continue his legacy and take his car to as many car shows as we are able to! Please say an extra prayer for my dad’s parents!! Grandpa is a car guy too! My goal today is to get something written up about my dad and who he is and you all can get to know him and his family more! Funeral arrangements are still pending

That's great that you are going to keep your Dad's Custom Caprice...it's a real nice one and it has so much connection to remembering the good times with him...

    Don Torbett

Hello Adenia,my name is Don Torbett and you went to School with my daughter Nadine, I wanted to let you know how sorry we are for the loss of your father, Jim was a true friend of mine and I will miss him. I have a story for you and everyone reading this, I have this 1938 Oldsmobile sedan that I purchased from a member of this forum I didn’t know that he was a member until today and I just joined this forum today, the story is about your senior prom and Nadine was going to the prom too and asked if I could drive her and Ethan to the prom in the 38 Oldsmobile, well I said yes but I’ll have to cover the seats because they are original and ripped and the musty old car and mice smell were still very noticeable, the headliner needed replaced and there wasn’t much time. I called your dad and he said bring the seats over and I will reupholster them, he did a great job and then the old headliner was still a big problem so you’re dad called me and said Don I don’t have room in my shop for your car right now but if you let me work in your garage I can get the headliner done before prom, well I said sure you can have the garage door opener and well you’re dad ordered the material and installed the headliner in my car just in time for the prom and the musty old mice smell was gone and no more old material dust fell from the old headliner because of his great craftsmanship, I was able to help him on the day of the prom and I had no idea how difficult it was to install a headliner in that type of car. I was able to take Nadine and Ethan to the prom in my old 38 Oldsmobile with the new upholstered seats and new headliner and I was so happy to be able to do that. I will miss your dad and I just wanted you to know that my family and I are praying for your family.

Sincere condolences to all of Jim’s family and friends. He left us way too soon. I never met him but I did enjoy his posts and we had a few nice interactions here over the years. From the previous posts I can see that he was not only a respected car guy but a great family man as well. May he rest in peace.

  30. That's just the kind of guy Jim was. He left some huge shoes to fill as a real deal car guy that genuinely loved to help people. Man, still can't believe he's gone..........E
