    Adenia,

I have been thinking about your family most of the last several days, especially Grandpa and Grandma Stanley. Loosing a child isn't the way we expect things to happen. I just want to give Jerry and Karon a big hug. I got the pleasure of knowing Jerry at many of the car events. Also got to visit a lot with another Classy Chassis Car Club member, Norm T at such events.

I have so much I want to tell you. I don't have facebook. The HAMB is my only social media, a lot like your Dad. I went back and read through our conversations ... and cried, and laughed, and then repeat. Of course, we talked cars, but we also talked of family. And he mentioned you many times. Off to college, Texas, Oklahoma City, etc... I won't go into all of it here.

He also mentioned what a wonderful, understanding, supporting wife he had. If your Mom needs help with anything, now or anytime down the road, it is just an ask away. Seriously!

I think I will put my memories down in writing for you. I will take a long while. I can't promise I'll have it done before the funeral. I look forward to meeting you and your family there.

Thank you so much for sharing some wonderful memories of my dad! He was a special man for sure! I am so surprised to see pictures of him because we all know he would say “who would want a picture with me?” And yes he always said it to me!

Thank you so much for this picture of my dad! He passed away peacefully and had his car magazine right next to him! Dad had absolutely no health problems that we are aware of! Still waiting on autopsy results. This has been the chosen one for his obituary headshot! ❤️ I laughed a little when you said he knew more about you than yourself! That sounds about right.. he could tell you all about people’s careers and their cars.. but he could never remember how old I was he just asked me two weeks ago “How old are you now?” he always told me that I have a photographic memory and I know I got it from him!! Of course he always denied that he had a photographic memory

Dad was that kind of man… and you know he would never want anyone worry about him but he always worried about others!❤️ I hope you are feeling better!

  9. Very sad news. Although I only met Jim once, at Lead Ain't Dead, he seemed like a very friendly guy... 79.jpg Condolences to his friends and family. May he rest in peace...

Sad news. I was a fan of his posts, and of his Chevy. The traditional custom take on a later model car doesn't always look correct, but I thought his was spot on. RIP @stanlow69

This is terrible news! I always enjoyed talking kustoms with Jim every year CCR and here on the HAMB. This is a big loss for the midwest Kustom Car Community. I would say that my least favorite part of this hobby is losing friends that you always look forward to seeing at out of town shows and may only talk to a couple times a year but really enjoy their company. It seems every year we lose a few more walking talking automotive history books. Thanks for the good company Jim. IMG_6346.jpeg

Jim finally got rid of his flip phone this year so we we’re getting sooo much more content from him this year!

Such a great picture of Dad’s car! He finally got rid of his flip phone because he wanted to text me (I live stated away), take pictures of cars, and put them on here much easier!

OMG! I can't believe this. I used to chat with him every year at Indy and Salina. This really bums me out.

  16. I live in Texas but would see Jim at Goodguys Des Moines in his legendary Caprice. I finally met him and Alchemy at the same time a couple years ago, and made sure to connect with him when I was there. I even followed that Caprice cruising the Iowa State Fairgrounds this year.

Truly a gut punch. Praying for you Adenia and the family.

This is another very hard one to read. All the best to Jim Stanley's family and friends.
By all the comments here, he would have been a great person to know and that Caprice is pure class.
Although I dimly recall doing a deal once with him thru the classifieds here and I always enjoyed his posts and comments, I never met him in person.
    I sure wish I had.

Visitation and funeral arrangements have been made!❤️ Sadly, nothing was found in his autopsy! His heart is being sent off for research to find answers! https://www.nblfuneralchapel.com/obituaries/James-Brian-Stanley?obId=29638389&mibextid=2JQ9oc

My sincere condolences to Jim's family and friends.
I last visited with him in March, earlier this year. We walked in to the Lincoln, NE swap meet at the same time and ended up walking together and chatting for a bit...
Great guy, will be missed by many.

Thank you all so much for the love and support during this time! I will try my best to login and learn new things about cars as often as I am able to! Here are a couple pictures I wanted to share! The old one is our family picture❤️ the recent one is from my dad’s funeral! We drove his car that day and had it on display during his viewing! My brother, mom, and I will do our best to make it to his favorite car shows such as Salina, Indy, and Des Moines!

  24. Fitting tribute!

    I assume that's his jacket....
Wish I could have made it.

  25. Thanks for the pics Adenia. Your Dad has been heavy on my mind and I miss him already. Although many of us couldn't be there, we were there in spirit. God bless you and the family during these difficult times. Take care! E

  26. Like others above, I wished I could have been there, but your family has not been off my mind and in my prayers since his passing....and will be for a long time to come. This is one that has hit us all hard.

Jim’s daughter here: He passed very suddenly and my mom found him! He had a car magazine opened, right next to him! Sadly, his autopsy showed nothing! His heart has been sent off for research!

  30. One year ago today we lost our good buddy Jim Stanley (@stanlow69). Hard to believe that a year has passed already. There hasn't been one day since that he hasn't crossed my mind. I miss his great custom input, as well as his to the point commentary, his incredible custom knowledge and his computer like memory. The custom side of the HAMB really took a big loss in his passing.
I hope all of his friends and family have found peace since his sudden, unexpected passing. He is missed. Rest in peace Amigo..........E
