Swap meets haven't been the same. It was just a given that we would bump into each other while walking the rows, visit a while, compare our purchases, etc ... dangit.

I didn't see this last year.
    Much too young.
    I'm sorry, fellas.
    Please accept my condolences.

I missed this as well last year; granted, I was finishing my cancer battle. Anyone who would slam a musclecar is props in my eyes! I picture Groucho up there with him, nerfing him over it

Yep, I missed seeing him at Greenfield this year. We’d chat for a bit and be amazed at what people were asking for stuff.

Hard to believe it's been a year already. Sure missed seeing him at the shows and getting to compare notes.

Today would have been Jim's 56th birthday. Good re-reading through this thread, bringing up the same emotions I felt 2 years ago.

His birthday was the 14th, he passed on the 18th and funeral was the 31st. As a tribute to Jim, I changed my avatar and will let it stay until the end of the month.

Jim's avatar was his Caprice in front of "Albert the Bull" in Audabon IA. I was on a poker run/charity run in western Iowa on Sunday. I peeled away from the group at one stop, zipped over to Audabon, wheeled up, kept it running, snapped the pic and made it back just as they were drawing door prizes at the next stop.

Two and a half hour side trip, had the old Chevy really singing down I-80, bucking a stiff south wind the whole way. Both hands on the wheel for sure but worth it for the pic I got.

Salute to you, my friend! Stanlow69

Sad...he was taken so soon...he could have shared his Caprice in the new forum, quite respectfully at that...maybe his daughter already has...I hope one of his relatives takes that Custom vision 'A Soldier's Dream' he was working on and makes it in tribute...it would a project, but would be stunning and I can imagine his smile from above. RIP @stanlow69

I ran into his Jim's son, William, at the Greenfield swap meet, he, along with a friend of Jim's were selling some of Jim's excess "stuff" as well as buying some "old Ford" stuff from the vendor next door. I was going to have Jim do the seats in my roadster, but fate interrupted. I think of him when I get in the roadster and know he would have done a better job:(

Did his son have a big box trailer, parked just north of the food building? If so, I bought some stuff from them last year in the same location, including a few rolls of upholstery fabric. I obviously didn’t know who they were.

Jim never sold at swap meets, he was always a few rows ahead of me getting more good stuff.

Wow! Thank you so much!! He is greatly missed! He wouldn’t believe how many people miss him! Such a beautiful picture!! He cherished the picture of his car in front of Albert the Bull! I celebrated his birthday with his favorite Mexican food, a margarita and cake! Just like he did every year on his birthday!

Thank you so much! I have not! I’m not too great at finding my way around the forum! Much like my dad didn’t text

Hi @Adenia Stanley, I did this image in Tribute to your Dad. It is an artistic rendering of what he was building. I shared this on page 3 of this Memorial Thread. He left us before he saw it......I did follow along with his build Thread though...thats why losses here hit hard many times...

The link you can clic on above is the Build Thread your Dad was evolving here on the Hamb. He did a rendering himself in black and white which helped me do what I did. He had many parts collected...check it out...it would be a very special one of a kind custom. Good to hear from you. These memories roll around every year here. We don't ever forget...;)

Adenia, here are a couple of pics from your Dads Thread...I used these to help my rendering...

Please save your Dad's Art and Mine and print them out at Walmart on photo paper as a Poster and frame them for your wall of Remembrance of your Dad.

I didn't say 'Late' as I feel his spirit is still with us in positivity...

Ps...one more thing...if you go to the search and type in @Stan low69...you will get access to all your dads Threads and posts...you can also go to his profile...

Many ways to reminisce...I do it too...

  22. Rest in peace, Jim! You are missed.
I don't think Jim ever realized the impression he made on people, and I truly believe he was the biggest custom champion around. His passing left a huge hole in the custom/kustom side of the hobby I don't think will ever be filled..........E

@corncobcoupe you had me worried...I just checked on Mark...I get what your saying now though...interpretation and words. He must have known him well...many of you are well connected by region.

    Sorry for the confusion.
    Sadly Jim is gone.
I was, in my own way, acknowledging Jim's passion for customs and including we are fortunate to have Mark who fills us in with the custom world.
    Moriarty is alive and well.
I'm sure Mark has a great respect for fellow Jim in the custom world , as we all do.
