I envy you! I’ll probably never retire, being self-employed and all. My shop time is golden, and limited.
My wife asked me ; "what are you going to do today?" I said..."Nothing". She replied "but you did that yesterday" I said " Yah but I never got it finished"...Have a Happy Retirement !
Congratulations! On the other hand ... you know all those things you planned on doing after you retired? You are about to find out that it's going to take 30 hours a day to do them all.
Hank, time to start driving and enjoying the '37 full time! Get that bucket list out and start checking things off.....congrats and enjoy the free time.
Good for you. The hardest part of being retired is knowing what day it is. The only day I'm sure of is Sunday, cause that's the day we get the big paper.....
Congrats on your retirement! Just remember you need a plan and a reason to get up every day. I pulled the plug at 62, been happy as can be for the last 9 years.
Congrats on your retirement.I'm looking forward to seeing that 37on the road again.Retirement is the best thing about working most of your life.Enjoy it you earned it.
Congrats on your retirement , 9 more years for me . You did for a living what I want to retire doing . Small business working on cars ( mostly mine ) only I just want to play and maybe make a little money to support my addiction to cars ( hiding might be part of it also )
Congratulations on your retirement. I will have to do a little work every day till I die, cause I wasn't smart enough to do a job that had a pension, and I had to start over from scratch 3 times in my life. I tell everyone I am very wealthy as I have a wonderful wife, kids and 7 beautiful grandchildren, most of which think I am wonderful also. I just want to make a living now, chased wealth my whole life, and it didn't work out for me, but I am happy and healthy, and that's all that counts. I also tell everyone that tells me," I retired but I had to go back to work, as I didn't know what to do with myself", to get a ****** life. Been semi retired now for about 4 years, and couldn't be happier. Happiness is wanting what you have.
Congratulations.. I am right behind you. Retiring this December. I am sure I'll be working for nothing from now on but at least I can quit whenever I feel like it.
Enjoy it! Time will fly by. I was fortunate to be able to retire at 54. I am now almost 71, and do not know what the hell happened.
Congrats and enjoy every day. Best part is you don't have to wait for the weekend. It's always the weekend from here on out !! Have the most fun you can stand....
but, remember that retirement can be expensive - doing stuff that you put off either around your place,or out exploring in your ride
I retired four years ago. Here is what I did, Bought nice flatscreen TV, Bought nice stereo, Bought a semi finished car, Bought a nice new creeper with headrest. Go to the garage daily, turn on either TV or stereo (or both), work on project, get on creeper and get about up to waist under car and take a nap. Best wishes for your retirement
Most of us within the car hobby always have plenty to keep us busy and active. I had some of those coworkers who kept putting off retirement because they didn't know what to do with their time. They are the ones following their wives around the mall. I have more interests and hobbies than time and money allow. If I was unable to work on my cars or in my shop I would have no problem finding other things to enjoy. And every day is the weekend! Have fun.
Wow! Glad you made it to 77 and retired with good health. No longer a "worker bee" buzzing around the hive. Enjoy every moment and never look back. All the best.
Outstanding buddy, drive that sweet 37 every chance you get. I love the 37 body styling in a one year gorgeous shape. The honey-do list will be long, just enjoy doing it!!
Here's what My Grandpa did. Make some sandwiches, get a six pack, get the fishing pole and the grandkids. Go to the lake. Find a skipping stone, tell the kids you want one just like it. He would change the state at a whim, Georgia skipping stone, Louisiana skipping stone, it was a different state every time. We never got the right stone, being in So Cal and 9 it never dawned on us, but he'd throw it, and we'd go look for another. There was a 3/8 nut about 6 inches below the bobber. We wouldn't bother him, because we were looking for a non-existent stone. People wouldn't bother him, because he was fishing. Fish would bother him, because they had no interest in a 3/8 nut. Enjoy a very long retirement. Its Saturday.
