Anyone know how to wire a late model GM altornator into a car that was originaly equiped with a generator/Voltage regulator? Right now I have one wire going from the + bat post to the Bat terminal on the back of the Alt, and one wire jumping from the Bat terminal of the Alt to the regulator terminal. Is this correct or do I have it screwed up? Any help is greatly appreciated.

look on the back of the new alt (where the plug goes) it should say "1" and "2".
you need to pull a hot feed from either the battery or use the battery feed from the reg (if you dont want to run a new wire) use at LEAST 10 gauge wire for this. this wire goes to the ring (b+) on the back of the alt. the #2 wire (from internal reg on new alt) goes to the B+ ring on rear of alt. #1 (from internal reg on new alt) goes to the warning light (this is a MUST have or it won't charge). what i did was found the wire on the original reg. that went to the light and ran that wire to the new alt. that's it you can leave the original reg on for looks or just take it off (i left mine so all the wires that i didn't use have a place to go).
