Cars and Guitars returns to the Five Flags Arena and Theater Jan 10 2015 in downtown Dubuque. This will be held in conjunction with the Fuel Injected Film Festival. The show is all about bands, pinup girls, vendors, icons of pinstriping, vintage bikes, guitars, art auction, and of course hot rods and customs. We do offer travel money for the cars that show up and there is trailer parking about 3/4 of a mile from the arena. If you would like to be a part of the show, please email vintagetorque@gmail.com We accept rides that are finished, with paint and finished interior. In addition to gas money, the entries have the chance to win $500 from public choice. Last year a kustom Lincoln Capri won the $500 by 2 votes! If you ask around to people that came out to the show, I am confident they will give you a positive review. (Or just look here on the HAMB) There are some great bars within two blocks of the venue, and some nice hotels within 2 blocks as well. Overall everyone had a great time last year and we hope that we do it again in 2015!

...will try to make it this year,...didn't make it last year due to the weather.
I plan to donate to the art auction again.

Contact John or me if you have a traditional hot rod, custom, race car or bike and are interested in displaying. We have a big building to fill in the middle of winter in the Midwest and we need help with some leads on vehicles.

promoimage2014also.gif Here is a shot before the show opened on Saturday morning. Some survivors, kustoms, and hot rods. We definitely need people to support this show - we got another person that will commit to the event this past weekend in Milwaukee. But it is going to take a lot more if we want to make this strictly an indoor traditional show. If the strict guidelines we laid down the first year cant be adhered to, we will have to allow in stock (restored to perfection) cl***ics. So please try to spread the word around - we need your help!

IMG_20130224_072034.jpg We don't have one of those shows where everyone gets a trophy - instead we all hang out and have a good time. BUT- If car clubs or companies want to give awards at the Retro Rewind - feel free to do so. Even if you don't have a car in the building, but want to acknowledge your pick... We will give the awards right before we give away the Peoples Choice $500 pick. YES- one of the cars that enters will go home with $500.

The wife and I had a great time last year. It's a great break in the midwest winter and the things keeping you entertained at the show are in abundance. We made the drive in the ice last year from central Iowa and didn't regret it a bit.

Getting all the cars lined up. We have about 5 spots available still, so if you have a ride that would be a good fit for the show, please let us know. vintagetorque@gmail.com is the email to get in contact with

Yes - if you get tired of the cars, cycles, vendors, bands, art, and pin up girls that are in the Arena, just make a trip across the hall and check out some do***entaries or cl***ics in the Five Flags Theater.

So....many people SAY they want an ALL traditional hot rod and kustom show...... But the simple fact is it is REALLY hard to make this happen. We have had 5 cancellations this week. So I ask you what should we do? Open this show up to muscle cars? Street rods? Restored to perfection cl***ics? Or do we go the other way and let in total beaters with primer and rust? The average person that comes to the show are local, and are just looking for something to do to break up the winter. They are not going to really care that a 1966 GTO is in line with a '27 T Roadster. We are trying to make this show something that you would see in the late 50s and early 60s. But getting those with the correct cars to show up is tough - even WITH gas money given. We were trying to get in an additional 10 cars for the show this year, but it looks like we will wind up with the same car count as last year. We have plenty of bands, vendors, art, and entertainment lined up for the show, but we are trying to have all new cars every year, and have these cars meet a certain criteria. So.....I am interested to hear your thoughts. If the show continues in 2016, what should we include? Muscle? Street Rods? Restored cl***ics (1948-1964)? Or Rusty/Primer Beaters?

...I can see it would be difficult to pull off your initial idea, especially this time of year with the holidays and weather being factors a**** other things;.. I'd say let in a few muscle cars, street rods, and restored cars along with a few beaters as long as you'd have the final say on what gets in. It would make a show with a lot of variety and surely have something for everyone to enjoy. I still think it'd have that 60's indoor car show feel. Good luck with whatever you decide.

WiredSpider, that is the funny thing - last year on the day of load in it was sleeting and there was ice from St Louis to Green Bay. We only had ONE car cancel the night of load in. And that was because they wrecked their trailer on the way to the show!!!! So, those that were committed - REALLY were committed. There are a group of five of us that vote on the cars that get in to the show. We are all torn on which way the show should go forward.

I,d love to come but at that time of the year the weather is too unpredictable,
Same reason why I,ve never gone to Detroit for the Autorama
