Thanks to Tim (T&A Flatheads) for organizing the event and keeping everyone in line. It was a bit cold in the morning and I didnt exactly trust the weather forecast which said no rain (I even took a plastic container to cover my engine if need be!), but it turned out a great day all round. From KC - Chop Tops Westport we headed down to Pete & Jakes and had a tour of the shops. The Oilzum display case was part of a collection of Oilzum items including factory records, it was a very cool item and made for the 1933 worlds fair. The chev belongs to hamber cos.
From there it was down to a town called ??? where we had lunch at Sams Highway Hamburger. The white T roadster belongs to raven61, who was perhaps the bravest/coolest driving along with no windshield, just a cap and goggles! The 4 door cruiser belongs to member of the Rumblejetts band, who rocked the later part of the night. I think all the other cars in attendance belong to Misfits Midwest Members? Some one can correct me if I am wrong here.
Then it was onto trading post. The only mishap on this leg of the journey was Tim (black 56 Ford) cornering too fast and losing a hubcap! We stopped at the museum and had a tour given by a long time resident who really knew her local history. Now unless I had too many beers later in the day and misunderstood, the blue 32 in the pics has been on the road for about a year and a half and done 26K miles! That made me feel like a major slacker as I have my car on the road for about a year and saw 1K roll over on this trip! The orange roadster, while maybe not hamb friendly was a serious car. I thought it was cool that the owner was driving it on the roads and one month ago was running it on the salt!
Next onto Drexel and the bar and grill for a cold one. Raven61 passed on by and headed home. Cos did the same, but he was too quick for me to snap a picture!
Then back to Chops Westport for a Meet and Greet, onto Bilskis Bar to listen to the RumbleJetts, do what folks do at a bar and raise money for Childrens Mercy. A great day out!
Butler, that's it. I just couldn't remember when I was typing and was too lazy to go out to the garage and look at the driving instructions... I just remembered the burgers Mark it down on your calendar if you not working that day next year. cheers ricki
The funny thing was that as I was trucking up the road, a little voice inside told me to slow down right before the road took a sweeping turn to the right and look out for cops. As I rounded the sweep, I see lights on the side of the road. As I got nearer, I saw that the Kansas Highway patrol had COS pulled over... Bummer for COS, but everyone who knows me, knows that I was very glad it wasn't me for a change... r
Damn Bummer I missed this deal.....had my bachalore party Saturday evening after delivering grind rails all over KC that morning. Carl Hagan
No worries gave him the ol line... " according to my speedometer I was going 73 not 83 sir must be these new white walls!!!" few minutes later " slow it down I am just going to give you a warning and get the speedometer checked out!!" another close call but it ended well!! It was a great time for a great cause!!!
Thanks for the post Ricki. We raised $1300 for Childrens Mercy without charging anyone for the event. No fee for the run, no cover at the bar. It was a great time. Thanks again to the Rumblejetts, Pete & Jakes, Bilski's, and ChopTops. Keep late september/early october weekend open next year, we will do RevEm & Roll #3.
