ok heres the deal.im a parts hanger in the plating division for the place i work for.work in both zinc, and chrome depts.just been there for a couple mounths.the boss says i can bring parts in to get chromed.the only thing is they dont take the plating off anymore.i can get everything off but the nickle.is there something i can do to get it off.by no means is my car fancy.in fact i like it that way,but i still like shiney stuff.i read somewhere about doing it at home with battery acid and some current.can anyone explain this to me since i dont want to get fried.the parts i want to replate are pretty much pit free just bad finishes(scratches etc.)any thoughts?thanks

Things must have changed. We had a nickle stripper when I worked for a plater way back in the dark ages. As far as I know chrome plating can and should be applied over nickle.
