I know a bunch has been written here on leaf spring suspensions so apologies if this question has been asked and answered. My 36 has reverse eye leaf spring in front but standard in the rear. I'm converting back to Wide 5 Drums and wheels and thinking of running a 650 tire in the rear (1.5" taller than current tire). With a combo of 16" wheels and taller tire in the rear I think I'll need to lower the rear for a better stance. Posies sells a replacement rear leaf spring that lowers the rear 2.5". Does anyone out there sell the rear main spring with the reversed eyes for a 36 so I can just reuse the original springs? I called a couple of places in the Denver area and they want more to reverse the main spring than the cost for the whole spring pack from Posies. Not sure I'm up for flipping the spring as a DIY. Years ago I needed to "flop" a main leaf. I found a "spring shop" in my area. In about 15 minutes he did the job while I waited. He took the leaf and traced its arc on the concrete shop floor. Then he kept rolling it back and forth through this machine that (as I remember) had 3 rollers. He kept changing the load and taking it out to compare with the arc on the floor until the changed leaf matched the drawn one -- all for a very economical fee. I don't know if there's a shop like that in your area, but give it a try.
I just did this reverse thing on the transverse spring on my Belly Tank build and you end up with a longer main leaf between the eye centers. Yes i did it to the same curve. When you look at the eyes you can see how it happens. I tries all ways to obtain the same distance between the eyes and re arching the whole spring was the only way which added height to the spring intern having a stiffer spring close or more than the original height.............I have had to order a new main leaf that is an inch shorter.
