I have found that the best way to not have mice in your car is to patch up all of the holes in your garage. If they can't get into the garage then they can't get into you're car. It blows my mind that some guys park a $50,000 car in a $50 shed and complain about rodents.
Yep, when they are covered with mouse droppings you know they are not effective. Orkin guy confirmed they are only effective at doing one thing - ****ing cash out of your wallet and putting it into someone else's, but hey believe what you want....
The state of California built a huge 'continuation' school behind our property, right on the lot that had previously been 40 acres of grazing. (we miss those cows!) When construction began, we had some 'squatters' move in, over-and-under the back fence: Americans all, in the form of rhodents. My chocolate Lab, (Annie) was a 2-month old puppy then, long-legged and clumsy... but Annie managed to catch 2 to 3 mice a day for awhile, always in the yard. Then she caught a gopher. Annie started digging after them, on the lawn and everywhere else. I only had to tell her 3 times, then she stopped digging and now waits them out. She has caught mice in the house, chews 'em up, leaves 'em on the large back porch, in her favorite spot. Caught and 'dispatched' a skunk and a possum also, last year... She's 3 now. Good girl.
I had mice in the garage until I read that if you leave a radio in the noise will keep them out, i did and left it on a cw station and so far it has been working, 2 years and no problems. now if I could find something to keep the spiders at bay!!!!! MikeB
How's this for a hunter/killer type???... I've seen this little guy go to work in the back yard one evening..
Deuces, Its not nearly as much fun as peanut ****er on a box with a piece of screen over it, that way they cant carry it away. Then the .22 air rifle or .22 shorts. Couple of beers, shootin rats under the Country Sedan through the bathroom window screen, MAN thats redneck heaven.
Carl La Fong's mouse trap is genius, will be building one tonight. The interweb say a mouse can jump up to a foot so in theory pie tins on the jack stands with the vehicle at least a foot off the ground should result in a failed attempt for said mouse. I have a place around Flagstaff and I get them little *******s vacationing in my place. Time to hit goodwill and find some nice slippery pie tins or mixing bowls.
I have used the 5 gallon bucket style of trap for years in my barn, but I fill it with antifreeze so I cant see the ******s. Until I see mouse *** sticking up I dont empty it.
These work GREAT! If you don't have any pets you can add some Antifreeze in the winter so the pool can stay open all year. Bob
I have a friend with a 40 x 100 pole barn and he has rock on the ground inside the barn and a 10 foot spread around the outside of the building. Have another with same style building with concrete floor inside and rock spread around the perimeter of the building. Both have had cars stored inside for 20 years and both claim they have never had any problems with mice. Both claim the mice will not travel over the rocks. Think you said your cars are outside, don't know what type of surface they are parked on, but this might be worth looking in to.
Question- Why go to all that trouble when you can buy some Decon or snap traps and actually kill them? Plaster-o-paris is not going to do anything to rats and mice. It will not harden in the intestins.
I will give you 100.00 if you can find any mice on any of my properties, or any of my cars or motor home. Both in the city and in the country. Have two homes and the mh. john Ritter put up or shut up
I have had very good luck with mint extract from the health food store. I soak a few small rags and leave them in the car, trunk and under the hood. They seem to hate the smell of mint
I went to a feed store to buy some mouse poison. I told the lady that my "pet" mice love it... she said (with a very stright face) "Oh you can't feed them that, it will kill them"
I tried all the fixes. Irish Spring, dryer sheets, traps, moth balls & the electronic devices. The neighbor had a couple cats that would hang around my garage also. I'm sure the cats caught some but the only thing that seemed to work somewhat was the moth balls & the traps. But I think I've found something that works for me. I moved from Mi. to Az. That only thing I see now is jackrabbits, buzzards & small lizards. Waiting for my 1st rattlesnake though.
Look, Electronic devices dont work to keep rats and mice away. If so the hotel and restaurant industry would use these simple devices exclusively. I own a pest control company and if was that easy to just plug something in and walk away I would be out of a job. I just helped a guy who had over 100k in damage to his new motor home who swore by these units plugged in at every outlet and inside his coach. Rats chewed up all his leather seats and carpets and ****ped and urinated through out the new RV. Please people dont be duped into thinking these scams will help prevent rodents, Use proven methods to reduce the risk of damage and disease to your family.
I have "gone to all that trouble" with traps and the decon. Traps are far less effective than I thought they would be and the mice love to empty out the green pellet boxes and store them somewhere. I have at least ten traps and boxes of poison and even sticky traps in my trailer and yet they build nests in my drawers and **** all over. So I will treat them to a swimming pool and see how it goes. That and the jack stands.
Too bad your near a traffic area, because a cat works great! In Florida the gecko population is high and they get into everything, I even asked my "Bug guy" what to do and his answer, "Get a cat". We eventually inherited a stray cat. We don't have that problem anymore..... not even with snakes!
A note re; D-Con... it doesn't kill them instantly,..after they eat the stuff, they have to drink, and that "activates" it.... The idea was to have them die in their nests.... The downside of that being, the %^&*(0 !! nest may happen to be in your car........ I like the bull snake method,... When the snake disappears, you know the food supply moved to the neighbor's place........ 4TTRUK
Yea but the main ingredient in moth balls is Naptha and that stuff will make you go blind. of cousre they say the same thing about playing with yourself and we know that isn't true at all.
I currently have a baby possum in the frame and engine compartment of my 37 buick because it has to be parked outside with a cover. My dog is going bonker's but he hasn't tore anything up yet.Good thing it's laid out so he can't get under it.Going to uncover and leave the hood open tonight and hopefully he ventures on,who knows where momma is.As far as mice I've used mothballs and had good success but be prepared to constantly replace them.Cats are almost always your best bet if your able to have one,we have wild ones around our shop and no mice or rats, just possums go figure.
