If they fit onto the non-reversed Ford wheels, they were repops. Genuine '55 Olds Fiesta spinners contacted the center of Ford 15's, come right off in a corner. (ask me how they left my '53 Vic!)
I could have reversed a pair of the wheels (fronts, the Foxcraft flare skirts and flattened and blocked rear springs hid the rears, so they only had beauty rings!)
But rather than hassle with reversing fronts, and getting that w-i-d-e look plus the scuffing from king pin inclination: I used a pair of '57 International pickup steel wheels! 5-on-4-1/2", 5.5" wide, but 'inset', on a 'deeper' center. Perfect for Olds caps!
Oh...and the International wheels have a 4 nub "inner" hub cap retainence, which is the same as early Ford, '40-'48.
    Just an FYI....from a wheel guy....
Oh, and when we were in high school, I needed to break down some tires.
The old cowboy ("Cowboy Jim") had a forge, anvil, etc. "Anything you need, Mike, ask. You're a 'top hand' around here..." Loved Cowboy Jim.
I took my 2 wheels down there, deflated 'em, and laid 'em down inside the jaws of Jim's blacksmith screw-vise. Tightened the handle 'til the tire squealed: "Pfffff...." Broke the bead nicely. But only one.
Jim came out, and said "Grab thet jack..." He laid the tire on the deck under the front bumper of his '33 Ford ton-and-a-half flatbed. The second bead broke immediately.
Jim: "If'n ya told me what ya needed, you coulda done both of 'em like this, without taking down my vise!" Lived and learned...

  2. @Atwater Mike, I remember helping my dad break beads with a bumper jack and the family Buick as a kid in the 70’s. Worked great.
