    Rocky,
I showed my in-laws your post since they were here over the weekend. They have a place in Tygh Valley (Sportsman Park?) They have been spending at least 1 long weekend a month up there, sometimes more. My father-in-law knows what he is looking for(he has a 36 Chev PU), and my mother-in-law is pretty involved in the "community" where they have property and she likes to talk [IMG] Never know what you'll find if you ask around. Seems that who ever took it was patient and knew it was there and when to strike. Its like the line in Silence of the Lambs..."We covet what we see every day." I hope you get it back soon.

Rocky, I was in Tygh Valley this afternoon in fact found your dad's place. Good buddy of mine that lives in Wamic has a friend that lives in the same loop as your dad did and knew the truck and your dad by sight. What struck me as odd was that as we drove the loop several of the neighbors took time to look up from their activities check us out and wave. Which puzzles me how this bunch of neighbors wouldn't have noticed your truck being loaded and hauled out of there. Can't believe that if someone took time to go house to house and talked to the neighbors that a lead or two couldn't be had. Just odd? or at least odd to me. [IMG]We've made contact with the American Legion/VFW posts and the local volunteer Fire departments in both TV and Wamic so there are a lot of eyes looking in those communities. We'll keep looking.

Thanks, Al...I don't know how they got away with it either. You're right, it's a very tight-knit little community where everyone knows everyone else [and their business] but if looked across the road from my dad's place, you'd have seen several enclosed car trailers.in a fenced-in area adjacent to a single-wide trailer. They get backed up to their shop on that property and driven in/out on a regular basis. Hammering,sawing/grinding noises all night, every night. BIG rotwielerstanding guard....These people are the only ones not interacting with the community. Makes ya wonder.

Did you by any chance go over and ask those folks if they had seen or heard anything? If there was anything suspicious at all, you could have friends in the sheriff's office pay a visit.

Yeah, and the coppers were over there by the time I got back to the house. They took one guy away for having a current warrant for his arrest and they're still working on the case. They won't tell me any more. I don't think they have any more info to give me at this time..Waiting for someone to register the vin and set off the bells and whistles...or be seen driving around in the cute little pickup truck.

Rock... What were/are those guys known to be working on during those late nights?
Did the local Police search the trailers and workshop?
Any way to check if they were registered for a spot at any swap meets in the last few months?
MAN! Those guys are about as suspicious as your likely to find anywere... [IMG]

I don't know any of the answers to any of those questions and the PO-leece aren't about to share with me. I would imagine they'd need a little more reason to serve a search warrant than my suspicions. That little pickup would most likely be looooooong gone from their property before anybody even knew the truck had been stolen....if they stole it. I have nothing but a gut-feeling they took it anyway. NO facts at all.

Seems the only logical explaination though, doesn't it? Sorry to here Rocko. If true, the PO-lice aren't going to interrupt an on-going investigation to reunite you with you truck without substantive evidence of what they likely believe to be a 'ring'. Sadly, one truck isn't gonna make their big sting if it indeed is their intention to make this a couple year investigation leading to bigger arrests as many times is the case of 'what you know-and what you can prove' in auto theft. Check auto theft occurances for at least a hundred mile radius, sounds rather rural. Shouldn't be much of any. Offer the investigators that you just want to purchase the truck or any pieces of it that are recognizable even through a third party(officer or local of appropriate area) to assure their investigation's secrecy. Better to have Something of yer dad, than nothing huh? I'd build a momento piece from one headlight stand if that's all I could get, I'm like that about family. Offer your full cooperation regardless of what they can offer or prove. Send em postcards of your truck askin em if there's any breaks regularly. The law don't always know alot, and won't always share what they do. But there's ways to get em to help ya if you can gain some of their confidence. Heartbreak is one feeling that I'd be havin, and I'd play it constantly. Again, real sorry about yer loss... Wish you the best in finding it...

If you want to get their place searched Rocky you could tip off the DEA through a local friend about there being some unusual activities and smells coming from their property. The DEA will turn the joint upside down if they believe that there's drug activity going on there. You did say something about them being into drugs before right?

Rocky, came up with a new flyer for tomorrows swap meet. If we can figure it out will post it here tomorrow. stole your picture once again,[all this stealing from Rocky is not a good habit to start].

you know if I find this thing you're going to have to write Ryan a big check.

Have another crazy idea that may mess with your "suspects" head a bit. Next time I swing thru the valley I'll get their address and send them a copy of the flyer. Should get them wondering. Whadda think? [IMG]

Al.......with no proof of those guys being the thieves, I think a big fat poster hanging in the Tygh Valley General store is enough. I don't want to harrass those guys to find I was completely wrong. I talked to Dep'ty Sheriff, Floyd on the phone yesterday and he told me he was able to walk through every shop and garage, examine all their trailers and poke around their whole property with their blessing...saw nothing out of the ordinary at all.
No, these guys and everybody else in Tygh Valley see that poster every time they go to the store and to the post office. Let's leave it at that. thanks.

Rock, passed flyers out today at the swap meet so they'll be hanging in a lot of shops in the area. Also the host club is going to pass info on to their members, so the search continues and more eyes are working for you all the time. [IMG]

Hey Rocky, in the classified is a post about a 30/31 roadster body, where a 1930 pick-up is in a local paper in Bend, OR. $1200. Don't know where that is from your Dad's place in Oregon, but maybe someone is trying to unload it cheap. Ad says they will trade for guns also. Maybe you could have a buddy up there check it out. Just a thought.
