OK, I finally hooked up with the guy with the Model A in the paper here. It is a TRUCK - as in cab and chassis, unrestored. So, I guess that squelches this lead.

Can't say you didn't try to help, tho. I really appreciate it too. I still think some dumb-ass will attempt to register that vin and it's hot as hell right now. I talked to the local sheriff out in Oregon on the phone and he told me that vin is registered with the NCIC all over the U.S. Hot damn!

I was cruisin the country roads along the Missouri River in my V/8 astro van today when I came upon this man on the side of the road with his head under the hood of a black 30 coupe. I stopped to see if I could help but he was just adjusting the carb. He was ok and that little A-bone was sitting at idle and really tugged at my heartstrings....Model A's are so cool. I miss mine. Hope someone attempts to register the vin soon.
This is the truck just before my dad installed the new headlight reflectors and new chrome front bumper....

I apologize, havent read all 120 posts so this may have been covered. Have you contacted the MAFCA guys in your area? Those guys are pretty tight with one another and may be able to get the word out nicely. Perhaps a small ad in the Restorer would help. Just a few thoughts, best of luck!

    Today in the news:

In Orlando, Florida they found a derringer that'd been stolen from a house in Barstow back in 1996 inside a teddy bear.

    http://www.cnn.com/2003/TRAVEL/07/17/gun.teddy.bear/index.html

A small weapon from a small house in a small desert town 3000 miles away hidden artfully inside a child's toy!

Someone's *gotta* find the Rocky truck eventually!

Thanks Jet Fuel....I checked all the teddy bears I could find and still, no sign of the model A pickup. I'll keep searching, tho..

Hey man, it just shows what can happen through due diligence by an international group of good folks like we got here on the HAMB.

I'm on your side and will remain hopeful.

Cough! AAaack! Man, that looks very similar to my old beast. I see some differences...wheels are different....fabric top is a different color.....different headlights. and the paint looks older than mine. Can you give me the phone number? I wanna talk to the guy...feel him out a bit....and thanks!

Big Bike and car run in Wamic this weekend [saturday] at the Pub, anyone in that area keep eye open for Rocky"s truck. It disappeared right in the next neighborhood.

Steve.......I called the guy with the truck for sale. He said the truck was gold..looks white in the photo but he assured me it was gold...he's had it for 10 years, has leather upholstry and has a legitimate California pink slip. I called the guy in Oregon that's handling my case and let him know anyway...we'll see. Thank you.
Zap.........I appreciate you keeping an eye out for the truck in the wamic area but everybody in Wamic knows that truck and who it belongs to. Ronnie Delco lives in beautiful downtown Wamic and he helped my dad restore the truck...knows it as well as I do or better.....It can't escape detection in Wamic.

Thanks, Hack but the 28-29 series and the 30-31 series share very little sheetmetal.....startled me for the first second I saw the photo but they're quite a bit different.

Rocky, check out the ad placed at the Ahooga Model A website (www.ahooga.com) on Sunday August 17th for the '30
A pickup in Los Angeles. Looks very similar, with a few minor changes.

Something I never noticed before....my windshield frame is painted black. My dad built this truck and I wasn't aware of this 'till now...might help to identify the truck as long as the bad guys didn't paint it body color.

Steve, you'd be my brand new hero if you did, howsomever, those trucks all look pretty much alike. The VIN is gonna be the deciding factor and if you can see the last 4 digits on the frame rail of the one in Arroyo Grande, my model A's number was 9200...last 4 digits....thanks a ton.... The ad says the phone number is 805-481-5222
