If that number is in the origional place, you'll have to pull the cab to look on the driver's side under the cowl. If it was restored from one with no title, the state may have put the number on a tag usually on the driver's side frame in the engine compartment or in the driver's door jam. States like to make them visible when they can. It might be on the paperwork the guy has tho. Ask to see his title or bill of sale or whatever paperwork he has. Do you know where it is on the truck Rocky?

The truck was titled with the original VIN...stamped on the left frame rail as far as I know. I never saw any tag and the VIN on my title is an original model A VIN....hasta be the old original stamping on the frame..

  3. I know your feeling like shit but I think its like a little adventure with 3000+ people as your army or something. Im on the east coast, if i see anything resembling i'll letcha know.

Thanks, Rat. I don't feel like I'm commanding an army of 3000 troops. I feel more like some asshole mother f%$#er stole my dad's truck!
I think the original engine was in the truck too. I think the engine number should be the same at the frame's VIN..

the "vin" # is also on the engine block just above the water outlet on the drivers side of the motor. and just like the number on the frame there should be a star before and after the number and just like the one on the frame the number is almost never readable. the other problem u may have is the number on the block is almost never the same as the number on the frame. ive only seen 3 with matching #. what is the vin/serial num for the car?? im way the f out in mass. but i go to a hell of a lot of swap meets ill keep my eye open

Thank you Flatdog and everybody else who is watching out for my A-bone. A special thanks to Ryan, for letting this thread stay up at the top for as long as it has. I don't think the odds are in my favor for finding the stolen truck soon but someday, someone will try to register that V.I.N. and the alarms will sound or someone will recognise the truck if it hasn't been disassembled for parts.

  11. This would tear me apart if this were to happen to me.

I guess it's time to put the VIN numbers on every single component. And load it up with a satalite tracking system or something.

Some people are brassy and are stealing cars and parts right at the shows! [IMG]

At least you'll have a couple of thousand "EYE's looking out for your truck!

Best of Luck..., and let the hunt begin! We'll catch the "Bastard"!! [IMG]

It bothers me to see the thread count stay at one number for a long time on this thread, so I'm posting this.

Although I'm in the Northeast, most of us guys in the Northern part of the US and in Canada are looking at the last swap meets of the year over the next six weeks or so, before the cold and snow comes and swaps pretty much go away for 4-5 months or so.

Maybe the dirtbags who ripped off Rocky's truck will think it has cooled off enough to try and pawn it off at some swap or sell the parts from it, so lets all remember to keep a look out for it at swaps, in the local newspaper classifieds and in the local pennysaver magazines ads.

Thanks Jim. I'm headed to bed right now to get up tomorrow A.M. and comb the local swap for my truck.[and any good deals] Hope I personally find it and the dirtball who's attempting to sell it. It'll give me a reason to spend $1.00 for a used baseball bat.

Thanks guys.....I've come to the realization the only way the bad guys are gonna get caught is if they try to register the VIN. The frame numbers [VIN] are hidden under the splash aprons and under the cab of a fully assembled Model A with fenders. There's no way to view them.
I doubt the blue one is mine anyway because mine had new paint and new blackwall tires and a scumbag crook would prolly not change out parts/paint that already looks good..maybe. Thanks again..

  29. Rocky- Probably a spur o the moment crime so ,I think where to look is in a 100 mile radius of your trucks location [when stolen]- just look for a model A pickup at shows and swaps stripped of fenders and primered over the Grey-also fresh primered[straight ] fenders [too nice to part out!]at swap meets in same 100 mile radius..........hope it shows up!
