Hello all, this is my first post. My boyfriend is Kustom7777 and he is teaching me a lot about cars. I am trying to learn- but there is so much to take in !! I really enjoy the car shows and the people there. So, my boyfriend is customizing a 41 Cadillac. Its amazing the difference already. Its been chopped and lowered and shaved and its 98% in bare metal. Looks a little mean already !! He wants a rewiring kit for Christmas. Any suggestions on what brand I should order him ? Where I should call or go on line ?
    Thanks for your help !

ez wiring is the cheap cost good one, when you buy it, buy the color NOT the black wires. www.ezwiring.com

Painless is a good one but more expensive. Good Tech support
    www.painlesswiring.com

Ron Francis is also a good quality kit
    www.wire-works.com

I'm sure Jim will enjoy it :D

Seems like a lotta folks are having some issues with EZ Wiring lately. I've installed about a half-dozen or so of them with no problems, but it's probably worth knowing that many others have had trouble. One thing about EZW (and Painless, too, for that matter) is that you kinda need a bit of understanding of automotive wiring for their kits to make sense. Ron Francis is far and away the easiest I've ever installed, but are also the most expensive, and can be a tad complicated to troubleshoot if you ever need to.

I keep hearing good things about American Autowire , so I'll prolly give them a serious look for my next wiring project.

41,I would check out www.centech.com I have used them in the past and are fairly easy to hook up.I think Jim can handle it with no problem. You would have to know a few things before you order, like what motor he's using,if he's going with air, The best bet would be to get him a gift certificate and he can order what he wants after the holidays. They are very reasonably priced .Good Luck,Mr.L

  6. i have used kits from just about them all , and i think they are all OK..some have features that others don't , some have stuff you don't need..but any of them will work.

i prefer wiring from scratch , not kit...then you get exactly what you want

before you buy any kit you need to find out what the requirements for the car will be. some kit have 12 circuts , some have 18..others vary. will there be air conditioning? cruise control? power windows? power seats? fuel injection? does he need all new switchs/ reuse the old/get them elsewhere? nuetral safety switch? turn signals? etc..or will it just be a basic car, then a cheap 12 circut panel will be fine

i'm not trying to scare you , just want you to be aware that different kits have different features. my advice is to find out a liitle more , talk to the tech people at any of the wiring makes and see what they recogmend

Thanks for all this information. I'm going to have Jim do the research figure out what he wants , order it and give me the bill. I really don't want to order the wrong thing. Jim just welded 49 Caddy quarters on his 41 Caddy !! He's moving right along.

I have used both the Painless and The HotRod wires wiring harness

    http://www.hotrodwires.com/

The painless I messed up and bought an 18 circuit system and it took forever and had a lot of wires I didn't need. The second time around I bought the 12 circuit hotrodwires and it was easier and a lot cheaper but the kit is not as detailed.

    Good Luck.....
