Ridge Runner Speed parts, Ralph Ridgeway?

    This thread is what led me to this Forum from the world wide web. I wanted to post up some pictures of my BBC Ridge runner ram. I purchased it in the nineties and modded it some in the plenum area.

    I got one for a sbc bought it not to long ago off CL. I built a 55 a while back and always loved the Ridgeway 55 and had read everything I could find on Ralph.

    In my opinion the plenum was way to big of course we all know that now. I suppose in a dragboat might work well but with such a tall manifold it really wouldnt pull good till 4500rpm.
    I wonder if Ridgeway was using a manual transmission?
    I milled off about an inch and a quarter from the top and the manifold pulls hard all the way past 7500 rpm tremendous design loved it so much I polished it up.

    Ridgeway dominated the northeast. Carroll Caudle ran a similar modified rochester manifold he had success with. Edelbrock eventually covered the market.
    I could never find where they raced each other. One year at the World finals Ralph was in D and Carroll ran C.

    Those cars were 4 speed and if they saw 4500 rpm they were on the return road.
