Have you ever heard of one for a 440 Mopar? Someone said something about it once. Can't seem to find it anywhere.

If you know please let me know.
    Thanks

(FYI: Current oil filter sticks straight out forward hitting the crossmember in my Motor swap of 440 into a 54 Dodge)

Don't they use the same filter as a Ford?
In which case, maybe the 90 degree adapter for a Ford could be used.
The factory used them on certain applications,so you might find one in a wreckers.

They don't use the same filter, but I use the ford one on my 440 because it's slightly smaller in diameter. Solved my problems. I'd try the ford adapter and if it doesn't work, take it back and just get an oil filter relocation kit and mount a remote filter. Still working on that engine swap, eh? Did you get your motor and ****** mounts all worked out?

Not sure about the 440, but my 273 powered 67 Cuda used a slightly shorter filter than the Fram PH8a - which seems to used on a whole lotta cars.
With a little care, the longer PH8a could be screwed onto the Mopar factory installed right angle oil filter adapter on the 273 and you gained perhaps 1/3-1/2 quart capacity.
Nice part was, I only needed to keep PH8a's in stock cuz they fit all three of my cars.

I believe the 318's and perhaps other SB Mopar cars used the same factory right angle adapter.
I'm fairly sure the engine block oil filter pattern where the angled adapter fit on also fit PH8a.

And if you're reading between the lines, that means the Mopar angled adapter more than likely fits any engine that takes a PH8a - which is almost all Fords and quite a few others.

This is the Ford 90 degree oil filter adapter M6880A50

First I tried the short oil filter to get it in between the rails but I had to spring for one anyways to get around the gearbox and steering shaft, it was like $60 from Summit.

If you think you can get by with a short filter try a Ford Motorcraft FL300 which is the shortest Ford/Mopar oil filter around, shorter than the Fram.

    Fairly common junkyard item?

Not sure C9, I've seen it on late model 5.0L Explorers, I'm sure there are others.

I'm not familiar with the mopar oil filters, but the Ford 90* (and 45* for that matter) adapters replace the ****** in the block with a threaded sleeve/bushing so that big hollow bolt that holds the adapter on can screw into the block in place of the ******. The ****** is not the same size when it goes into the block, it's much larger in the block than the portion that the oil filter screws onto. I'm not sure I'm explaining this well or not...

Anyway, I'm not sure if the mopar block has same provisions. I'm not a mopar guy, but figured it would be something you could easily check before shelling out the $$ for that pricey FRPP adapter...
