When planning a drag only rigid mounted rear what plane (Deg.) must the out putshaft be to the trans slip yoke. Is the setup the same for a direct/drive or a auto.

My dragster is set up solid rear (naturally) and is IN LINE with the output shaft - UNLIKE a car with suspension where you try to anticipate the rear axle windup so that under load everything is lined up. Since your rear end is solid mounted you have virtually no windup - and therefore needs no built in angles. Matter of fact it had better be STRAIGHT STRAIGHT STRAIGHT.

You may want to check your rule book for your class, but I would venture a guess that you might be directed to run COUPLERS. They aren't real fond of angles.

BUT!!! If you're gonna actually run ujoints and for whatever reason CANNOT keep everything in line then I'd just set it up so that the trans output and rear axle pinion are parallel - complimentary angles.

    What are you building????

parallel, if tranny is taildown 5 deg (-), pinion must be up 5 deg (+) to equal 0 deg diff.

Thanks, thinking about a solid rear for a low buck / 6 altered. I would prefer to use the 904 thats with the donor car. After seeing the hamb dragsters I recalled when the altereds also ran solid w/torsion or spring front ends.
