Wow, squeezing a V8 into an early ford seems to have the same issues for most years huh?

I am not sure about the exhaust problem because I have never dealt with a Flathead (yet) but on my Chevy V8 I know that flip a passenger side exhaust manifold over to the drivers side you can then dump out the front instead of the back giving you tons of space for the steering box.

The radiator problem is one that I'm sure you'll figure out once you sit and stare for a bit. Like I said before, it funny how the same swap in two different cars can yield different result and problems that arise.

Stop fucking around with those trucks and get this thing finished first!!!

looks good so far chris. what are your plans for the rearend?

  6. Yes, it's an F-1 cut to fit the A frame just like how the Bishop/Tardel book shows.

  7. Cool Kris. If I go that route I'm sure I'll have a question or two for you :D

  8. Can't really run a manifold because the steering box is right up next to the block, between the center and rear exhaust port. So I'll just have to make a set of headers were those ports just dump strait down. We'll see, I'm sure theres a solution out there ;)

  9. 37-40 banjo with a "T" spring located with some snazzy hangers I made up. Wait and see!!!

  10. Yep, just got it! Going to find a nice box and get your stuff shipped out probably early next week!

Chris, Looks like you are making some great progress on your Roadster ! Looks like I need to get the Bishop/Tardel book. Seems to be a good read on "A" builds. May use some of that on my "A" Modified.

Hows the frame coming. Did that k go in fairly painlessly?

  16. Dunno yet, frames at the blasters and I'm out of town helping my Brother move. Oh joy!!!

  17. Ok, so got the frame back from the blasters and mocked it back up. I got a little longer fan at the junk yard and I think it will work perfect. Hoses clear, too. So, I think I can safely begin to make my engine mounts.

  18. Chris, what's your fan to rad. clearance? Looks about 1/4" or so, might be the pics. Do you have enough for engine shake or frame and fan flex?

Great progress Chris.Looking forward to your next up-date.

  20. Yeah, it's a little more than a 1/4". I think it will be fine, I need it as far forward as possible to clear the radiator hoses.

I hope 1/4" is enough for all that shake fan flex etc because I am still trying to squeeze that SBC in my '35!!!

Looks awesome Chris! Get those mounts in and whip the brush out. I want to see that frame in shiny gloss enamal!!

  22. I think a 1/4 inch is pretty close but should be fine. If it were a little farther back, that would not hurt either. No I gotta figure out the mounts and pedals...once that hump is cleared I should be on the downhill side.

Won't you need enough room between the radiator and the fan to install a FAN BELT? Or are you planning to remove the radiator to do it?

Oh Doug that is just a minor detail.Maybe he was just going to unbolt the radiator support rods?

Or just unbolt the generator from the intake (you have to loosen it anyway) and slip the belt on from the back. That's the way I do it on my 32.

Project is looking good Chris. Keep the progress pics coming.

  28. Alright, to settle the debate I went and measured... I have 3/4" fan clearance and yes Doug, I can slip a belt down between the radiator and fan :D

Nice that should be plenty. I really need to shoot for .75-1".

  30. That should be no problem with those electric fans your using...
