RIP Benny Parsons.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Benny Parsons, a former taxi driver turned NASCAR champion, died Tuesday from complications stemming from his short battle with lung cancer, his son Keith said. He was 65.

 

Rest in peace BP.

 

Damn, I didnt want to hear this. After seeing Benny on TV behind the wheel and in the booth all these years I finally got to meet him and spend a few hours with him at the race track a few years ago. What a great guy, he was the same in person as he was on tv. He loved family, people, racing and food. Benny rest in peace, you will be missed.

 

I actually gasped when I read this. We lost a good one...

Same here.

I got to meet him over 20 years ago and although I only spent a few minutes with him, I had the same impression as racyredhd, that he was a genuine person and all around nice guy.

Rest in peace, Benny.

 

Never met him but felt like I knew him. Will certainly miss him this coming season.

He always brought smiles and laughter to the NASCAR scene,
on or off TV. He was a genuine "Good Old Boy".
He will be missed..

Sorry to hear that as well. He was a nice guy. One time he came to Canton for the stupid Pro Football HOF crap and I got a chance to chat with him. Unforunately his death is just another nail in the coffin of the real NASCAR.

 

BP could always be counted on to say what he thought. Not the NASCAR politically correct reporters and drivers of today. RIP BP!

Really sorry to hear that BP is gone. Circle track racing and it's fans along with the car hobby will miss a good one.

Benny was one of those guys that everyone liked and respected. I'm truly saddened to hear this. RIP Benny. We will miss you.

Benny raced at a time when the cars looked like cars not some artificial blob with decals. The Car of Tomorrow, Toyota's........Nascar is dead. I wish someone would start another series

 

RIP, BP...Now they have a Fellow Racer, Champion, Commentater and All-Around-Good-Guy joined in the ranks in Heaven...Can't wait to get there
