I have received this from a couple of emails today that Bob Pierson passed away yesterday.........damn..........that is about the only thought that I can think of........and a heck of a good guy and FULL of stories when we have met him at Bonnville and I have sat with him and used to listen to them for at least a couple of hours.......godspeed Bob to the great white dyno in the sky.

Funny, when he saw the 34' hotrod in 2001.....all that he could say was "You need to get the nose down for racin' on the salt".......hahaha.......not cool car, or I can't believe you drove it from Kansas.......just get the nose down......cool guy.

  9. Unfortunately Limey Steve you are all too correct.

    RIP Bob ....

Your contribution to Hot Rodding was immeasurable.

That 34 and the 36 3W are two of my favourite hot rods of all time. Condolences to the Pierson Family.

I love the story of how Mr. Pierson outwitted the U.S.F.R.A. after they stated the A-pillar of any vehicle racing must be at least 6"' in length. So he shows up ready to race with a rule book compliant 6" A-pillar, however it was raked till Tuesday!!! Sweet, got to love that guy.

RIP BOB,----Seeing the above HOT ROD cover reminds me, that was taken just as I was graduating from Inglewood Hi in 1950, where Bob used to cruise the school in his white 36' 3 wnd coupe, in those days, all the guys at school just looked in awe at that great car as it went slowly by!-----Another guy Jim Mckinnly, who had an identical 36' 3 wnd coupe, also white, would join Bob & sometimes both cars would cruise the school side by side, much to the enjoyment of all!!
Condolences to all the BOB PIERSON family-----------Don

Wow, truly sad. Ironic because I was thinking about his coupe and wondering what he was up to. Since I'm here in Japan thousands of miles away from my project '33 Ford that Marshall is building for me, I have been collecting 33/34 Ford models, pics, memorabilia etc. Needless to say the iconic Pierson bros. coupe is tops on that list. So just the other day I bought the collector Hot Wheels set of Bruce Meyers "garage" in which the Pierson bros. coupe is part of that set. I couldn't stop looking at it, it's right in front of me as I write. I get lost in thought thinking of it's history and then I read this. Godspeed Bob Pierson, and thank you for your significant contribution to what I love so much.

I'll bet, none of the guys, back when they built that coupe, would have thought what a legacy it and they would create. RIP Bob. You were a legendary man in our hobby/sport. Thank You and condolences to his family.

With each passing of these legendary figures, it makes me realize that I need to make a point to get out more and try to meet the ones still living ... there will come a time in the near future that it won't be possible.

:( What a shock this morning. My heartfelt condolence to all his family and friends.

This is really freaky as this morning I was lying in bed just looking at this piece of artwork and reminacing about a couple of Speed Week trips and the upcoming one. Normally I pop outta bed and start my day but this morning I lingered, then I read this thread. RIP Bob.

I was just reading the story of the first coupe to beat the roadsters. Rest in peace to the guy they use to consider a hot dog, Bob pierson. God speed.
