Another larger than life american legend gone. January 1952 - Carroll Shelby drives his first drag meet, behind the wheel of a hot rod fitted with a flathead Ford. Gotta appreciate a man who raced and built his way into the history books. RIP (race in peace) (photos courtesy of theselvedgeyard)
"The race is run, the flag unfurled, the champion now will rest. God speed, Carroll Shelby, we will never forget you. Jan. 23, 1923 - May 10, 2012."
Man, that really sucks - we are loseing too many of the great ones too quick. RIP Mr. Shelby thanks for every thing you did.
God he had a GREAT LIFE, especially in the last few years, he was everywhere, Auctions, TV, it was great to see him out there & in the news. Everyone wishes he would have been around alittle longer, but man while he was here he made a dent! GOD BLESS CAROL Bob Vinton BigSkyBob

Spent Monday at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet. Saw a couple of real continuation Cobras there, both autographed. I thought about Carroll then as I knew he had been sick. We drove my OT Shelby GT up there for the day. God Speed Legend and Gentleman Carroll Shelby! Pics of the Autobahn Shelbys here if you are interested... www.fotki.com/redlinetoys/
