RIP to a fellow Texan. One of my heroes growing up. Several years ago, I sold some lab equipment to the high school that he attended in the Dallas area. They told me about how he was their Grand Marshall several times for alumni activities, etc.
WOW, I can't think of a person that had more of an impact on the American racing industry than Carroll Shelby. RIP :-(
R.I.P. I can't remember a time when there wasn't something to read about his exploits. When I started reading car magazines he was known as Texas race driver Carroll Shelby and hadn't started building cars yet. A big loss to the whole automotive world.
From chicken farmer to world class race car driver. Will be best remembered for his hemorrhoid removing, pure Detroit muscle 427 cobra's. When Ford tried to buy Ferrari and Ole Enzo laughed, it was Carroll and his band of merry men that built the famous GT40 and whipped him at his own game. The mustang Shelbys and the Cobra the most reproduced replica car in history will stand as a tribute to him. Carroll Shelby don't forget Grumpy Jenkins Mazmanian Pittman and the list goes on We are all getting older ,Our hero's are all passing , hope someone is picking up our passion's AND LIVE TODAY LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW
we should all have as much success and attain as many of our goals as he did.....he's one that I count as an example, of how to live (and die) with style and grace.

Mt Dad's new '67 GT500, one of the last eight cars to be assembled at the Shelby facility in El Segundo at the old American Airlines building. The 1968 models would be made by Ford. What a great life. I wonder how many books it would really take to document his entire life? Mr. Shelby made my Dad's driving a very happy experience for many years... Thanks for that.
RIP Mr. Shelby I can think of no man who has made as big and as long of an impact on the automotive world as you. You will be missed.
Carrol Shelby epitomizes what Texas and Texans are all about . May God bless you Mister Shelby, my heart aches as you will be missed by many here ........ scrubba
