I know this is not Politically Correct here, BUT I feel the need to post it.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Cpl. Derek C. Dixon, 20, of Riverside, Ohio, died June 26 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was ***igned to 2nd ***ault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.

I was lucky enough to have met & partied w/this fine young man while visiting my son Joe at Camp Lejeune, N.C. It cuts me deeply knowing that a family will be w/out a son, brother, cousin & friend.

I'll admit I sat here & cried when I read it because I know how close these young men are to each other. I can only imagine what is running through Joe's & the rest of the groups minds right now. It's times like this I wish I had one wish that could be granded & it would be for World Peace. Because not another life would be lost because of a war.

My heart is open to this family and they will be forever in my thoughts & prayers....joe

  2. May he rest in Peace. He is a hero and a true warrior.
I pray God grants peace to his family.

Joe, I am so sorry for the loss of this young man. He was doing what he felt was necessary. Reminds me of a friend who died in the war in vietnam around '68 or '69. He was underwater demolition - and went doing his job. May their souls RIP.

  10. My heart felt condolences to this young man's family and friends.

As a father of a Marine who has one tour in Iraq under his belt, I can feel & understand your pain, TooManny2Count, it is amazing the closeness and loyalty these young men of ours display for each other.

    May God bless them all.

I don't have a problem letting this run for a while. But please keep the focus on the soldier and his friends/family. More politics will get it deleted.

My condolences to this brave young man's family. He died doing what thousands of others have done, protecting freedom already won or trying to obtain freedoom for those who have never know it. In either case they are true heros and deserve our undying respect and unending prayers.

Thanks Derek and the many others who have paid the ultimate price for my freedom and safety. May his family find peace and solitude in knowing that he is a hero.

This past Monday we buried a friend, Cpl Zach Gr***, killed in Iraq as well. Too many Americans forget there is a war going on in Iraq. I admit I am as guilty as the next. However, when a friend is killed it really brings it home.

BTW- I completely agree, names are just names. Faces tell the story of the young men and women.

RIP Zach and Derek...know you are not forgotten!

My family knew Zack and his family.
He grew up with my kids and my friends. Many Ohioans have died in Iraq for our freedom within the last few weeks.
Its easy to just hear it on the radio.... Its totally another thing when a young man who you know and came from small town America dies.
My wife went Zach's service this past week.
The whole community came together that day and lined American flags for miles along the route from our community of small town to small town.
I am proud to be here and my heart goes out to everyones family who loses any child not just a soldier. Its hard for me to even type this. God Bless America! Thank you Service Men and Women!

As time goes on, there faces will come back to you,... (and to my discredit, I may forget some of there names),... but there face or smile or phrases or any number of things that made them the person they were will come back, and just for a moment they once again are alive in your heart and mind,....... God bless our Men and Women that have in the past, and those currently serving wear the the Uniform, They know what is expected of them. And for those that gave all,....Rest easy in the knowledge that you go with your Family, friends,... and always your comrades, in everything we do for the rest of our life's,....... you will be with us, and you will never be forgotten .
