Don't know about anyone else, but I had that poster on the wall when I was a kid with him wheel standing that red white and blue sportster he used to jump with. A real American Patriot. Just doesn't seem the same when these other guys get on the Jap rice grinding dirt bikes to do the jumps. Boner
I,ve got a different story about him, I ran around with him painted some of his cars built a custom chopper for him , sued him for 5,ooo,ooo$ , ect .ect a great story i also have 10,000$ bad check from him yosemite sam
I almost DIED a dozen times because of him ....it started with a pile of burning hay , a water hose and a bicycle . It only got worse from there ...lol . To my first Hero ...Thanks man ....my life was greater because of you. swaZZie
When i was a kid, I went around saying " Ebo Ebo". My mom didn't have a clue till we were at a store and I yelled "Ebo Ebo" at his action figures. Then she knew who Ebo Ebo was. R.I.P, Ebo Ebo
I raise and salute one to the man who must have had a set of cojones so big that AMF used them for models.
Evil is someone i could never get enough of watching, oh i wanted to be just like him when i was little, i had the toy bike and smashed that thing into everything i could find, i remember his pain relief infomercial years ago for a zapper you put on sore joints, well i figured i,d give it a try on my elbows as they had been bothering me for years, only i didnt have his zapper so i took the ignighter out of my bbq and zapped myself, wow when i hit the sore nerves pain went from my finger tips right up into my neck, i did that like 5 times on each arm and that was like 12 years ago and they have not bothered me sence, met Robby at the port angles hillclimb back a few years ago and he told me he thought i had a great looking bike, i had a 900 honda twin cam in a honda 200xr frame, hes a cool guy to.
Well said, and you beat me to it. Even really cool tough guys can do the right thing in the end and end up in the right place. Everybody has a purpose in life. His final big jump was the best influence he could give to his fans. I'm a fan too. Somewhere, there's a home movie of me winding up that launcher speeding Evel across a parking lot. RIP
I recall reading an interview with him many years ago ( I think it was in Playboy) where he said that he figured heaven was full of good booze and gorgeous easy women and that if he got there before we did he would just sit down and have a beer and wait for us. I can see him up there now with a shit-eatin' grin on his face sipping on a tall cool one. Save us a place and Godspeed Evel!
My childhood hero also! Had all the toys and everytime I launched my Schwinn Stingray it was "just like Evel!" The man was larger than life and one bad-ss! Sh*t, he wore a f**kin cape for christs sake!! R.I.P. Evel!!!
Guess my Evel Knievel Suzuki RV90 just doubled in value. Anyways, Really cool guy to watch. Gonna be missed.
I'm surprised no one has posted any of their Knievel "cool"ectibles. we'll ...here's what's in my toy room in one of my cabinets and a tribute to one of my all-time heroes and inspiration to go big. maybe this stuff will bring back some of your childhood memories looking up to Evel ...enjoy! Here is also an art piece i did awhile back that now is Powell skateboard graphic in '07.
WOW! When I first met my Ol lady we went over to Moses Lake so I could meet her family. We all gathered at her grandpa Harrys radiator shop for a party. It's a real good size shop. I noticed it had a single sky light in the shop in an odd place. I asked Harry why he only installed a single sky light and that's when he told me the story about Evel Knievel. He hated that guy. Harry said that on his way to the Snake River jump in 74 they broke down in Moses Lake one night around closing and stopped in. Harry fixed him up and they went out for drinks that night. There is an old train bell in the shop and when they went back, he says Evel keep ringing that damn bell and it was really starting to piss him off and he told Evel to come back in the morning and settle up the bill and get his rig. Apperently in the morning Harry came in to open shop and noticed the place had been robbed. He said when he was robbed before they just broke out the front window, but this time he noticed there was a big hole in the roof. After some investigation Harry noticed the till was gone and a bunch of tools were gone and so was Evel's rig. Harry says the police where certain it was Evel and crew, but really could'nt do much about it. On top of all that Evel stuck Harry with the bar tab. I personaly thought Evel was a pure showman, but I know theres a few out there that have a different opinion. Most call Evel a hero, and a few call him a SOB. All i can say is what kid did'nt want to emlulate Evel's stuntmanship, hell me and my brother both have scars from back in the day from BMX bikes, mini-bikes and a wicked Montesa 250 flat track bike that my unkle gave us. Long live Evel, may he Rest In Peace!
Now i remember where i was reading about him..its in the December issue of Maxum..probably his last interview?
Heard last night... He was a huge part of my childhood. watched most of his jumps and had a bunch of his toys..
This old pinball playfield is going to be made into a coffee table someday soon. I may have to move it up on the project list now. Evel Inspired me to fall, get up and dust myself off.
EVEL was always my hero. In 1976 when I was 10 years old I got to caddy for him at Mesa Country Club in Arizona. I still have my Evel lunch box. "The other thing I wanted but never got to do had something to do with Liz Taylor but she's getting a little old and a little fat." Evel Knievel

It will have to be a cremation for sure--they don't make caskets big enough for those huge balls!! Just enjoying a 3-nite concert experience with the great Hacienda Brothers, Dave Gonzales has had a candle lit on stage for Evil, and dedicated a song each nite to him, as you probabley know, Dave had a M.C. accident earlier this year and kept him on the sidelines for a few months, it didn't diminish his skill as he has tore it up every nite. We get to see them one more time today in an afternoon show in Omaha. Check out the link below. I love it that he got the settlement RIGHT before he dies. LOVE IT!! Personally, I hold ole' Evil responsible for many a broken bone, bloodied nose, fat lips etc. I just HAD to be like him and as a kid growing up in the 70's , when a kid was still allowed to be a kid, I made the most of it. RIP Mr. Evil http://www.heraldextra.com/content/view/245633/
