Robert (Bob) Edward Booth 1944 - 2023 I never met Bob Booth but wished I did. A Hotrod friend of mine who knew him well let me know a while back he was not doing well...I certainly saw and shared a few pics of the rides that he had as he was really into Hamb era Hotrod...I'm sure many of you here met him or did business with him in Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario where he ran a Restoration Shop... He had some really cool vintage rides and wheeled and dealed in them...rest in peace Hotrodder... https://colefuneralservices.com/tribute/details/8746/Robert-Bob-Booth/condolences.html#content-start https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/bob-here.482857/ ...The Green Hornet on the left was his and I understand it has moved on to a new caretaker... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ogenized-hotrods.1002926/page-9#post-11316841 Please do share your pics and stories if you have...he had quite a life... ...a few more grabs from his memorial tribute video from his Obituary at the link near the top...
I met Bob several years ago at Hershey. He had the reputation of being able to make a silk purse out of a Sow's ear. He was pretty talented.
Nick, that was conveyed in his Obituary...I certainly did see a few of his rides at local shows and cruises and they had a way of drawing you in for a closer look...there is a video at the Obituary link that shares a number of his finished projects...while his collection was diverse he sure had a warm spot for 32s... I certainly gathered he was a big swap meet guy and truly if you were in the restoration business that was a part of the engine that helped pull it all together...Another thing I noted was if you were a bird that was hunted...stay clear of Bob and his friends or you had a very high likelihood of being on a dinner plate......he sure liked his hunting... I wonder if the Son will be carrying on in his passing...I suspect they were quite involved in the car scene with him...how could they not have... We shall see, I understand there is quite a lot of inventory around... I will talk to my new friend who knew him well and perhaps he knows how things will continue... Thank you sharing that and to the others for stopping by to remember...
Id like to thank everyone who posted good comments, especially Stogy I've been absent from the HAMB for quite some time but was alerted to this thread by a close friend. Bob had been my Best friend for the better of 23 years...we travelled together, built together and I was fortunate to have learned many many building techniques and old school secrets from him. I'm truly grateful that I had the opportunity to meet him and most importantly, for our close friendship. I was with him until he was no longer and have struggled since with the loss of my best buddy. I'm extremely fortunate for the support that I've received from our mutual friends and especially, his family. He will live forever in my heart, on my skin and in my memories.
I never met or heard of Bob but sure would have liked . Hunting & hotrods & swap meets damn!!! Rest in peace ol rodder,80 isn't too bad of a run. Condolence to his family & friends. B-O-B
I just ran across this. What a shock. This explains what I had not heard from him in a while. Bob was a great guy. I bought quite a few cars from him over the years and still have 2 of them. My condolences to his family, he will be missed.
Always moving, the goodbyes and condolences...I was away for a bit and I always think about you all as we never know when will be our last time at the Hamb...It's never to late really...I say my condolences very belated sometimes...Thank you Binkman and to all the others...their spirits are Racing where the fuel never runs out now...
I parked right beside him at a couple cruises but never met him unfortunately...That goes for a lot of you...I've been to tons of swaps and shows back in the day maybe even chatted and then this place came along...
Just came across this thread. May he Rest In Peace. Like @Stogy mentioned, there seems to be so many folks in the hobby in the area that we rarely get to meet.
I sure remember seeing the Hotrods and projects he sold on Kijiji...and dreaming a little...never knew of Fitzroy Harbour either till those rides started popping up in ads...that was years ago Toronto way too...
