I don't know if it's been posted here yet but around 6:00 this morning Gas Rhonda passed away.
I am at a loss for words and devastated....my hero is gone...here is the statement from Rhonda Wilson
It is with an Extremely Heavy Heart that I type we have lost a true NHRA Legend Gas Ronda. As we received the phone call this morning from his daughter our hearts have been broken for the entire Ronda family. Gas was such a Class Act Gentleman. He is now in a much better place and in no pain. God Speed Gas!!! Please keep the entire family in your thoughts and prayers especially the love of his life his precious wife Nina.

  2. Always a class act, and his cars were immaculate. I saw him at Puyallup in '67 with his blown cammer-powered '66 Mustang, along with another pioneer, the first licensed woman nitro F/C pilot Paula Murphy in her 'Miss STP' Mustang. Very gracious in talking to a snot-nosed kid (me) and went on to win the match race.

I traveled to the Winternationals three time in the 1960's. Gas was always a top contender. RIP

RIP-I knew Gas Ronda directly when I went to old Lions Drag Strip, original Irwindale Raceway, Orange County Intl Raceway and his Gas House night club in Azusa Calif. One nice guy to know in drag racing and at his business club. May he rest in peace.....
