RIP my junkyard buddy

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by desertratrodder, Feb 26, 2007.

  1. I got a call about 5 minutes after I left the yard this evening from my tow truck driver that he had just run over my little yard dog and killed her.
She didnt go easy. He said she was half smashed and then had no way of putting her down than to back over her again.

This dog just showed up one day and never left. She was a pup when she came and was around for about 6 months. She followed me everywhere, and was happy to see me every day.

Nobody is happy to see me like that dog was. I guess I grew very attached to that dog, and liked her more than most people.
She was getting to the point where she obeyed basic commands and knew to go out when we were eating etc...

The ****ed thing is that I was about a few weeks from bringing her home to stay at the house.

Sorry for the drama..this is really ****ing with me right now.. just a stupid dog, right? Playing with that dog was the best thing about that place.

I'm not pissed at the driver for the single fact that he sacked up and told me, while the others all split.

Sorry to hear that. Sometimes they can be better pals than people; there's no alterior motive.

  5. I'm sorry to hear this and feel your pain too. It seems like the strays are the ones that find the way to our hearts the fastest and stay the longest, long after they are gone

    That's a sad story....sorry.

Animals can be a bright spot in a dreary world. The hardest thing about them is situations like this. I hope you can find a similar amount of joy with another dog, but in the meantime....sorry for your pain.

I'm so very sorry to hear about your friend....:( As far as I'm concerned, dogs are more loyal companions than most people. Your best buddy can screw you, talk about you behind your back, run away with your wife, steal your property or money, but a dog requires no more than love, attention and food to remain your friend forever.

Remember, all dogs *do* got to Heaven.

Not often a person can say "I know how you feel" with any real authority. This is one of those times. I DO know how you feel and it ****s big time. We've had to put down 3 dogs since being married and it seems to get harder each time. To loose one this way ,I can't imagine.
Let some time p*** , and when you know it's right (and you WILL know) get yourself another pal and start over. Dogs love us unconditionally and once you've experienced it you've just got to have it in your life. Sorry for your loss, better days are coming, promise.

That just ****s man. I've been there myself and know exactly what you are going through. It's amazing how attached you can get to a dog. They become part of the family and it hurts just as much when they die. Don't get too down on yourself for being torn up over it. There would be something wrong if you didn't feel that way.

I don't know where this quote about dogs came from, but it's one of my favorites.

"Someday I hope to become the kind of person my dog thinks I am."

    One more:

The average dog is a nicer person than the average person.

    sorry man.
is that the dog that jumped me, the "green" dog?

    again sorry man.

  14. Thanks everyone, and please nobody get me another dog. I knew it was a bad place for her but had no other. I dont want to bring a dog there, but if one comes on its own, I'll take it in.

I dont want to be responsible for another dying because I brought it. Besides getting run over, there the thieves that will slit them open just to do it, poison them, and always the antifreeze issue.

Her playfulness is what made everyone like her and its what got her killed.

She always ran in front of the tow truck, and he always stops in front of the office. She stops just in front of where he does. Today I already closed upthe office, she stopped at the office, he drove over her and got her with the back tires.

    Just a 15 foot difference.

Still a kick in the nuts for me.

man i hate it when i hear that a pet has died, they are the only TRUE friend a person can have..
my mom once told my brother after he lost a dog after only having it a very short time. "it's alright to be sad because of the lost, but be happy also because even in that dogs short life it was "YOU" that brought great joy to that dogs heart everytime she seen u & she LIVED to please you"....joe

I definitely feel your pain and only time will heal. At the same time, I have to admire the fact that your tow truck driver was upright enough to admit what he had done rather than just play possum when the dog "came up missing". I hope you see the testicular for***ude that took on his part and try not to let it affect your friendship/partnership. As you said, everyone else just "split" the scene.

It is said by some that in heaven that there is a place called the rainbow bridge. When an animal dies it is given the choice to cross over the bridge to a place where there are warm days and all animals live in piece. They play all day and what can I say...it is heaven.

They can choose to go to this place to wait for their master. Then, when the person dies they can go to the middle of rainbow bridge and be reunited with their beloved pet/s. Their love for each other brings them together again.

I will make the trip to rainbow bridge when I get to heaven...I have many pals that I have missed for a long time...and I can't wait to be with them again. I hope you find your buddy there too. Ron.

    I'm really sorry, man.
Give your driver a little comfort, today. I bet he feels aweful...

That ****s.. I had to have one of mine put down 1 year ago March. Luckily we were in puerto rico on vacation and the brother in law got the job done. It was a lot easier that way. He was 16 1/2 years old! My female was in the middle of the bed last night using me as a pillow. She is 60 pounds!... I love dogs .. The wife got up this morning and let her out and she got right back in bed when she came back in.. She is my pal...

I'd rather be around most dogs than people. The love of a pet is unconditional, and that in itself is an awesome thing. Sorry to hear about your loss, and hopefully time will heal your wounds. The only advice I can give is keep your heart open and alert, and she will find you again in time.
