Ed Jones c/o, aluminum radiator supply - o&o performance engine parts & o&o carburetor & injection. I checked him out on the bbb and he had a A rating. Gave him my money to order a Oldsmobile rebuild kit. Said it was in stock 2-3 weeks no problem. than there was a piston problem, had to be made, i'm on the waiting list, moving up the waiting list, yea-yea. than started ducking my phone calls and got nasty when i did get a hold of him. Drove over last week and the city has seized the business for non payment of taxes. After some more digging (that i should have done to began with) i found another fraud site online that has him listed as doing the same thing to several other people and using the same excuses. He also has also been on e-bay so beware.
That sucks. Please remember, the BBB is not a government agency, they're a completely privately owned, made up, bullshit scam that basically gives you an A rating if you give them money and a shit rating if you don't. They have no accountability whatsoever, they just sell ratings for fees. They're basically like Standard and Poors during the financial crisis.
I remember seeing his adds on Craig's quite a bit. Some of the items seemed a bit fishy. Sucks to hear I hope you track him down
I try to pay for most everything thru pay pal. They will work with you if you get scammed, had it happen and was refunded from them.
Turns out he has scammed some people through paypal too, he uses the excuse that the pistons are being custom made until the pay pal time limit runs out.
A statement that he could beat their prices (and have to order the parts with your money) is a huge red flag. Most brick and mortar (in person/non-mail order) parts houses don't require a payment prior to ordering the parts for you. You pay when the parts arrive/you actually pick them up. How much time has passed? How much $$$ is involved? Did you pay via cash credit card?
