Wow....really sad news. Met him once at a gallery show.......nice guy, down to earth and a really great artist. RIP
Pizz, Franco, Mc Fail, artists that kept the Custom/low brow art and vehicles alive during a time that most thought Customs were Low Riders. I would see him with the other Beatniks at the shows. Amazing artist that will be missed.
here's some info on him, he was only 57: http://hifructose.com/2015/08/31/lord-of-lowbrow-artist-the-pizz-1958-2015/
Besides his art, I've always loved his '58 Chevy.... I hate to hear that he ended his own life. That's the scuttlebutt that's been trickling down to me as well. We never know what demons one faces from day to day, night to night. Although one appears happy and graceful while around others, it's when they are left alone, with only their thoughts, do they reach deep into the darkest depths of their minds and allow the monsters to get them. Next time you see and old friend or aquintance, ask them how their doing, how they are "truly" doing. Offer them your ear, no matter the time of day, or night. Let them know you're there for them. You just never know when someone may really need you.
Truly sad indeed, thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. We may never understand the reasoning, but we can celebrate who he was and what he did while he was with us. Godspeed The Pizz
