    Ripped off by collectorcarsandparts.com?
    <hr style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> I sent "Larry Brown" $25 dollars for a weathered and used Hood badge for a 1950 Studebaker Champion a couple months back.

He was advertising here and on other similar websites.

I did not google him at the time, but even if I did it would appear he is better known for sending crap and promising gold.

In this case he has sent nothing at all.

Since he has used both this site and the HAMB, and who knows how many other sites, there needs to be a warning out there.

He rips people off on parts too.

I will be talking to the PD in Quincy Illinois tomorrow.

I can not imagine that they are going to jump right on it, but according to several postings on the net that I have read, they know him well; but again... he usually sends something and that enables him to get away with it.

If you see his adds (usually a grocery list of cars and parts and a link to his website) put a warning up or let me know where you saw it by PM.

It appears that he goes by multiple names and uses a couple of different locations, but if he links back to www.collectorcarsandparts.com he is likely to be the same individual looking for a new mark.

Have not got far with Quincy Illinois PD today, we had a winter storn here in northern Michigan that caused a lot of additional issues so I set this one on the back burner again for another day.

For your own amusement and as a general warning:

    Google "Larry Brown" and "Collectorcarsandparts.com"

Read about the multi-thousand dollar collector car rip off scams he has pulled over on people.

Larry Brown has used this site and will use it again to rip off the membership.

  3. i looked at buying a 33 pickup from him....he didnt know anything about it and it wasnt within an hours drive so unless i was coming to pick it up with cash in hand i could look at it.

I don't think I would waste my time Cadillacoffin.

I spoke to the Quincy Police Department today:

    Robert Copley
    Police Chief
    110 South 8th Street
    Quincy, IL 62301
    (217) 228-4470
    qpd@quincyil.gov

I spoke to Sgt Tedrow (and a few others) for some time about the issue.

Apparently Mr Brown and his many other personalities have been a PITA and are well known for what they do.

    His scam is thus:

To find justice when dealing with Larry Brown, DAVID EHRHART, or any of the other names this individual uses, you need to live in Illinois because the best you will get is a brief detention by the police. Nobody wants to extradite this looser because he is not worth the cost of extradition.
If you want to Extradite you will need to hire a legally capable private Bail Bondsman to do it. (This will be expensive)
Most people cut their losses and write up a scathing report (if they feel ambitious), but I have a lot of time on my hands right now, so I am prepared to take some extra steps to put the screws to this guy and stop him from continuing his scam operation.

I am willing to bet that the kind of guy who likes to sell parts he does not own or intend to send, and vehicles that are not as described...probably does not like to pay his state and federal sales and income taxes either.

I bet the tax man will have better luck seeking justice than I will, and the enemy of my enemy can be a useful tool when dealing with this kind of crook.

I will keep you posted as to what kind of sucess I have, but there is plenty of evidence that exists via google to prove this guy is bad news and needs to be added to the scammer list.

OK so he beat you for $25 not the end of the world, and there is not much you can do about it. But I have to tell you I think your time would be better spent working on your car and documenting it for us all as you make progress.

Although it sucks when this happens, be thankful it was only for $25. We've all had our share of disappointment over the years with purchases. Either keep it as a momento to warn yourself in the future, or do one better: if you can get another one of these, pitch it and don't aggravate yourself.

  11. I get that guys newsletter once in a while, never tried to deal with him, but I remember him having the Happy Days roadster posted in there, along with the other occasional high end car. Was that legit? Didn't someone on here buy that car?
