You should never use a lathe or a mill without first pushing your sleeves up past your elbows, otherwise you risk becoming a one-armed machinist

From a performance standpoint, I just can't imagine how much turbulence those ripples cause inside of those pipes, that effect the movement of the exhaust away from the motor, but hey, they sure look cool!

There are probably reasons they have pretty much quit producing them since the 50s. Don't see that they would cause many problems at the end of tailpipes, or non functioning side pipes, but under the car in the middle of the system?

I have a single exhaust tip and a bunch of rippled pipes that @anthony myrick was kind enough to get for me from Rocco and Cheaters IMG_6546.jpeg IMG_6547.jpeg

Ribbed for pleasure exhaust tips are the best.

If you just want exhaust tips you can make a close facsimile by using a roll type pipe cutter with a dulled blade and laying out the increments carefully.
When I worked at Hedman Hedders back in the Stone Age I did a pair for a friend of someone up in the front office using the lathe and a roller tool that I made up from a big roll cutter blade. Came out great. Once I got the tool shape right and the correct plunge depth it was pretty easy. I think I made them about a foot long.
