NOTHING lame about saving money, my brother. Nothing at all. Damn clever on the boat trailer if you ask me.

Congratulations on your great use of a cheapo transport!
When my wife bought her Saturn I took it right to the Discount Hitch shop for a hitch. They had to look in the book and were surprised to find an application and more so to find the hitch in stock. I was up and running in less time than it took to look it up. To this day it was the only Saturn I ever saw with a hitch. Hauled a Mullins trailer camping for many years behind it (and before that behind a GULP, K-Car) and sold the car recently with 256K for $500. Kept the hitch though.
If a hitch is available for your little OT car it is not a bad investment. Those little boat trailers and other utility trailers(read that Harley haulers) are quite reasonable and they can haul alot of stuff cheaply. No need to haula 16 foot trailer with the big pickup when you're just picking up an engine, is there?

  4. The prius is cooler when it's hauling hot rod parts.

Way to dust yourself off and keep on truckin!

Glad to hear you are still at it strong.

I've caught some **** on here myself for mentioning and standing up for our family's Prius. However, you do now have me trumped, it had never occurred to me until now to put a hitch on it or throw a welder in the back.

Considering Tuck's cir***stances I don't think he deserves **** for driving a Prius. Everyone else does though! :D

Rudy J! Your coupe is looking so bad ***... I can't wait to see it get even better. I love the new tires. I have a pic for you I'll post in another post...

Its WHITE GOLD mr. gow... I got that prius back in 2006 when I was thinking about getting a real job or something- It has 185,000 miles on it now. I bought it used with like 85k... used to be a Hertz rental car in Atlanta. The only thing I've done to it was change the oil and tires and drive the **** out of it. The best I got was on a full tank 63mpg. It averages about 45mpg doing 85. Still has the OG brakes... does that make it more impressive? haha... The Judas Prius is the most bad *** shooter I've ever owned...

One of the coolest things about making trips to Texas is that I get to stop half way and visit Kevin Lee and his family in Kansas City. It seems like it happens a couple times a year- so that being up here in Kanada isnt that bad- and the trips to Texas are usually some fun two day trips. I've been able to see his daughter grow up which is pretty damn rad being that I live so far away. I stopped in on the way back and snapped this pic--->

I've been working at Perrys on this 58 chev convert. I put new floors in it, trunk, some rocker work, did some door patches, bottoms of the quarters- and did some pulling on the frame rack. It was hit in the back and man that thing was kicking my *** today. The back was all pushed in but getting the gaps right on the rear trunk lid was something of a chess game... but I'm winning. Its gonna be a nice car when its done. It used to be black but the owner is changing the color. I wish he wasnt... I see it black, red interior... 348 with tri power!!! :) yeah... ill just pretend. haha.

The plan is to bring my hot rod frame in and get it on the frame rack and get it back to spec- one frame rail is twisted because of the steering arm- when it dropped down with the weight of the hemi on it the arm hit the floor and twisted the drivers rail out.

If I cant fix this- I'm going to build a new frame. I just have a lot of attachement to this ch***is. It was thrown away once already... and I saved it.

I got a compressor and a Skat Blast Cabinet so I could start to clean up the inital mess after the fire. I had a cabniet about the same size as this one but it was a Northern Tool and it was no where near as nice as this one!

You can see how nice the covers turned out-----> pic below.

I found an adapter too... This time around its a Speed Gems but I like the speed gems version better- its made in Minneapolis! The plan is to tear down the Hemi and get it hot tanked and magnafluxed to make sure its ok.

I'm going to need some help finding a few bits and pieces that are no longer good. Like the harmonic balancer... and maybe some pulleys.

I'm hoping I can save the adjustible push rods- it has a reground cam as it used to be in a roundy round car. I'll get into all of that later when the hemi's cracked open and the parts are on the bench.

All the valve springs and stuff are toast- you can push the valves in with your finger.

What really ****S is that my bronze bushing for the pilot hole melted for both adapters I had- its funny It didnt bug me as much that the adapters melted but for some reason those pilot adapters being gone really bugs me...

The plan is to take just one night a week and dedicate it to the hemi... so that should be pretty good- hopefully starting next month. I have my hands full with work so the time I do get to spend on this stuff will be well earned.

OK while in Texas I got to see MASTER BLASTER. One of the coolest damn 55 chevys I've ever seen... haha. Seriously this thing is rad and the story is even cooler- it belongs to Luke... my brother... who works at the speed shop. :) :) :) Im my country... we build g***er strong like BEAR.

    THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING!

So I'm having trouble sleeping... go figure. I have to wake up in three and a half hrs... damnit.

I'm going to take some pics of the tools and stuff that showed up but damnit my place looks like a bomb went off so the only clean area is my kitchen... and thats where I stacked this stuff so you wouldnt see how crazy the house looks... and this is a build thread so I'm keeping it on topic!

When I was building my roadster... I was looking for early wheels- like old ones. I liked ET mags or Crestline style five spokes... and it was impossible to find a set of nice 15x6 wheels anywhere that were from that era.

Well I found a set... that had been in the same place for 22 years stacked next to a tree. They were early ET mags... like 1963. They were chevy bolt circle- but obviously they burned up in the fire...

I had one other set I got from Rocky which I sold to a pal- and he didnt want to part with them and obviously they really do need to get put on his coupe (i hope your reading this luke)....

I was looking and looking thinking I'll never find a set that'll be afordable!

Well I did find a set- on ebay- thank god nobody bid them high. Same thing that I had before- these are prob 64 or 65 era because they have the newer stampings.

While I was working at the speed shop I had bought a set of tires with part of my earnings. Two of the tires came to my house... two of the tires went to HURST.

I had Cody and his dad make a set of custom slicks for me before the fire. You just can't find slicks like they had in the littlebooks. I wanted them 6" wide, about 29" tall and a single groove down the center. Pie Crust Slicks that go straight up from the mag.

I was totally s****ing by money wise and had a bout of good karma after helping a friend paint his car- his dad gave me some cash with a thank you card and I used that money to buy the slicks... otherwise it was never gonna happen. :)

Cody and his dad did an awesome job making the first set of slicks. (PRE FIRE PICS)

After the fire I talked to him and said I wanted to order another set down the road- and he told me just to get the tires to him and that him and his dad would take care of it... yeah- I was blown away-

This will be the third set of these tires ever made... and 3's my number. That means only one other pair exists out there right now... I wonder who has them?

I LOVED THOSE TIRES... and the fact that the next set is made is keeping me up at night- thinking about how rad all of you guys are.. and how much everything has changed since.

Its crazy to think that a month ago I didnt have a roadster body, or these mags... or tools or tires- this is gonna be so damn RAD.

More pics to come. Damnit all of these tools and stuff that have shown up while I was gone are gonna be put to use on this build. Cant wait to share pics!!!

I need to get a tool box ASAP!

I'm feeling so gay right now... and its not because of the Prius haha

I love all of you guys!!!
    Goodnight,

    Tuck

Great stuff, buddy. Great stuff. I think Toyota should build a ute version of the Prius for DIY gold chainers like you. I am stoked to watch from the outside how you how bounced back from that fire, and how it seems that in many ways things are better for you because of it. That's hard to imagine, but its effects are undeniable. Stoked to watch this roadster project come together. Keep on truckin' bro.

Visits when Tuck p***es through are the best – even if they are rushed when our schedules don't really align... but I wonder if he'll ever realize I actually live in Missouri?

Tuck – This stuff is all going down for a reason. Luck favors momentum. Go man go.

  28. Thanks for the update. There is a company that rebuilds balancers, new rubber and such. I have seen their info posted on here.

Tuck, glad to hear you're back up on your feet! Best of luck to ya. I'll be watching this thread.

ps. I'm confused. Are you a north of the border boy up here in Kamada, or what?
