Since I'm relatively new here, I won't enter the debate in earnest. My one comment is that everyone here who posted had two things in mind. One, passion for hot rods and two, something of value to say about the subject. I've found that that is what makes this place so great. Passionate people with something to say about hot rods. I say keep the whole thread. Keep the tech part for the techomatic so those who need the help can just see that part. But also keep the whole thread so they can learn the passion part. I've found that really creative people are passionate about what the create. Keep creating!

The dash is staying with the car in the original body and position.

In my humble opinion, if you don't own it it's really none of your business

Cars are not public domain. They are not historic landmarks. They are PRIVATELY OWNED. That means the owner can do as he pleases with it.

If you want to preserve it exactly the way it is, buy it. If you can't afford it, shut the fuck up and get over it.

Better yet, just build your own history.

I personally think that the "anger" expressed by these guys is really a result of the frustration that comes with limited finances, and the limited ability to affect change that goes along with it. The bottom line is that they love it, and really wish they could own it themselves and keep it the way it is. But they can't. so they get mad at the person who can.
