Did anyone get a picture of the 32 Roadster at the Hop Up booth?

Don't have a picture, but was told it belongs to Mort. An absolutely beautiful '32 from the black paint to the chopped top. Very nicely done and should have been a contender for the H.A.M.B. award. Hope someone can post pictures and details.

Morty's roadster wasn't flattered by its position in the Hop Up booth, but it's a gorgeous car. He was disappointed with some of its details when it was first finished and had a lot of it re-done. He's happy now!

Hey just wanted to say Thanks for posting pics of Morty's Roadster.
It just become my favorite Deuce Roadster. I would rank it right up there with Rodger Bell's 34 Roadster. I am sure that Morty would agree with that.

  7. Morty - that is one COOL fendered Deuce Roadster!

Wondering if you know what was wrong with it? I noticed something on it that would make me disappointed on a car like that too! Any ideas who built it?

He always seems to know how to make 'em sit right.

It sure is refreshing to see a '32 roadster with fenders. A casual observer of this hobby might be led to believe that roadsters built in 1932 didn't come with fenders. I don't expect to see a rush puting fenders on all of the '32 hiboys around but If I throw together my Brookville Excuse next year I'm digging out a set of my rough and ready survivors and bolting them on. Just the prospect makes me smile as the naysayers will have a reason to attack on so many levels. Can't wait.

Does anyone know who did the top on it? It is really well done. This roadster was incredible in person. Morty, if your seeing this thread, pm the info on the top. I'm looking to do one for my A. It's dead nuts!

Pretty sure that the top and interior (or parts thereof) were re-done. I belive that Sewell did the original one. I don't recall what else Mark had done over.

They don't need a reason, goes with the title.

  17. Wow. Yep, I would've voted for that one in the HAMB award.

Nice job, Mort/Dave/whoever else was involved.

Drooool..............searching through the piles for fenders.................wowwww............change my plans. No more highboy. Gotta have fenders now.

What's wrong with emphasizing the back end of that car? Has there ever been a prettier rearend? But I'd guess the front view is just as nice.

Top of the line car built by the best. Rumors are out there that this build about wore Mort out.

It's the car that was used in the poster ( see the poster for sale on the curtin ) and that's the angle it's at in that pic. That's why he set it that way.

The car was a challenging build to say the least.Sometimes they get that way even with good people involved.Several things had to be,well, fixed. As far as car placement,it was parked to duplicate the poster which is the cover of issue #8.Gary is right about it just about wearing Morty out-----I really am surprised there were no cadavers in the area. The end result was sure worth the pain. Thanks for posting the pics.

    That's one damn-nice roadster...

Builds that wear out the owner are usually sold shortly, let's hope he enjoys this one for a while.

Hot Rod roadsters with fenders are really starting to do it for me... I guess I'm getting old... ;)

  24. Yeah really brutal parking job!! If I was the owner I don't know whether pissed off or just plain confused??

  26. I agree that is one of the finest full-fendered cars I've seen.

  27. Nice looking rig. That must be a 36 Zephyr steering wheel? 37-39 are banjo spokes, and 40 switched to a wing shape...

    Anyone know for sure?

I believe the park job is due to the cover of a previous Hop-Up annual..... notice a similarity to this car ;)

Yes...it's a 36-37 Lincoln Zephyr wheel. I've got one in my rpu...

...and like has been said numerous times...look at the cover of Hop Up VIII...

It is indeed a bitchin roadster.

Notice the license plate is the same as the poster. There are so many things on this car to see.You know you have nailed it when the "experts" walk by,get about 10 feet away and back up.When I was there some of the comments were great-----one old timer thought one of the AMBR cars should be outside and Morty's should take it's place.
