My sons and I are looking into doing drag week next year. We want to use the '28 Chevy roadster we're building. It will have a very basic 283. If it runs anywhere near 15's I'd drop dead. So from what I can tell from the NHRA rule book is that convertibles don't need roll bars until they run 13's but I don't know if that applies to roadsters. Here's a mock up pic.
Roadsters are convertibles in the eyes of the No Hot Rods Allowed organization. So go by those rules and you should be fine, or at least in the ballpark. Please don’t forget your driveshaft loop! r Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Oh and your project looks like fun on the cheap which is the best thing. Making memories with your family, always good. r Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
To do Drag Week, do everything you have to so the car will pass tech inspection for the class you will be running in.
