  5. UPDATE
    BODY SWAP IS A GO!
Just a matter of getting my body to where it’s ready to pull off, leaving wiring, gauges and firewall intact.
I will take it to him, do the swap and come home.
Here’s a visual from the 32 roadster thread on here.
    Brookville on early running gear.
Sort of a back to the future peak.

    Too late, but:
Yep, keep the sedan…and drive it!
Start collecting deuce chassis parts and slowly put together a chassis for your future roadster.
A new/different pile of parts…not a deuce sedan pile of parts!

  7. No plans for a future roadster. Want it the K.I.S.S. way. Swap bodies and drive.
Got an engine swap on the 40 to finish, so I can drive it.
Then a 41 pickup project to get back on.
IF my lifetime (76) and funds permit it I do have everything for a new 32 chassis and running gear.
IF it comes to that, I would get a 5 window coupe body.

    Hello,

If there was a roadster that my wife would like to have, it was Jack Stewart’s pristine Red 1932 full fendered roadster. We had seen it sitting at a parking lot show and when I was able to get a ride in it weeks later, I expressed a liking for the open roadster. The ride in his neighborhood was totally, “the wind in your face experience.”

When I got home, I told her of the day spent with Jack Stewart and the roadster. My wife was instantly envious and wanted to hear the complete story. She liked Red cars and well, this 32 roadster makes anyone envious.

It was getting to know him, the 32 roadster and seeing other hot rod folks. We met a few of his friends and their cool hot rods. I knew that a lot of them were already featured in several magazines, so, it was not a photo session, but a “getting to know you” gab fest. If any future projects were on the drawing books, then hopefully they would contact me.

Certainly it was a day to remember and when we saw Jack at other events, it was instant recognition and another round of information exchanges. This time, my wife was able to sit in the roadster and that almost broke our bank account. She wanted a 32 roadster on the spot and our account was sayin “…Not so fast, sister…” HA!

We have looked at several roadsters from a Model A to a 1934 roadster. We have seen plenty of cool hot rods at shows, photo sessions and magazines. But for all practical purposes, a roadster is the car that leads to a “women and convertibles” conversations all of the time.

For now, she is satisfied with her current station wagon that is paid for and sees plenty of miles on our own road trips and errands. But, if it were not the pandemic era, we would have put on plenty of more adventure miles for our twice a year, vacations. What else is a retired couple supposed to do with their time in the seasons?

But, for the lust of a open roadster? What is a few dollars saved up over the pandemic no travel years to add to the satisfaction of cruising around in a roadster? Well it is ok for two, but we are looking at a sedan to include our granddaughter for her last go around prior to college, next year. That is one thing a roadster cannot do is to take a third party comfortably and safely around the coastal drives we normally take during the hectic times.

    But, then this happens…

Spotting a local So Cal Red 1932 roadster having some fun on a sunny day, coming at us. "Look, an old hot rod convertible coming the other way..." was heard...What to do? Break out the bank account reserves…ha! YRMV

  12. Thanks, @rusty1 .
Wish I could have kept it, but I’ll still have everything but the body to reminisce with.
Got all the wiring pulled out yesterday. That was a job.
But it will be a plug and play in the new roadster, since everything with juice stays the same.
Considering putting on some Kelsey bent spokes and Firestones for a different look for a while.

  13. Congrats! My RodBods '32 is a gas, but it stays inside when the thermometer goes above 100...

Oh, and you don't need door handles, just reach inside and pull the releases.

You, personally know the quality of work the Barillaro Bros. produce. I think you found your answer right there.
Edit: I took too long to answer, glad you made a choice.

  15. They’re still a good option, if I get to the point of a new frame. One reason for the body swap was with three other old cars is I’m out of room. Doesn’t require any more room.
The other three late models including the wife’s ‘19 Tahoe sit outside.

Good job hotrodA! Im drooling over your new roadster body pics!

  17. I get so confused. Only 1 person in 1,000 knows what a '32 roadster is. Only 1 in 10,000 knows if it's steel or glass. Only 1 in 100,000 knows if it's Brookville or henry. Don't know how many care. Guess it's fine to put a Henry on a repro frame though.

  21. No, that is one of several I have picked up at Brookville or Dearborn over the years. I beefed up that already heavy duty pallet & added 8 inch steel caster with nylon bands so it doesn't scratch my flooring! I have had truck cabs as well as engine/transmission combo's on it.

    God Bless

  24. @HOTRODPRIMER Setup for next Tuesday, Danny. It was set for yesterday, but the weather went from good to not so, plus I’ve been under the weather with the plague for three weeks and sure didn’t feel like a 10 hour round trip chingo in the rain with a bare steel body.
Rain this week also! I need two back to back clear days.

P1050923.JPG I have the 41 but had a hankering to add a roadster. I had a couple of roadster projects, 30/31 Brookville, 27 T, both went down the road before being finished. Finally I bought the 17 which was running and driving. I made some changes to make it mine and am enjoying the hell out of it. I didn't even have the 41 out last year. This was one of the first outings with it last year. That white background is ice on Lake Michigan
