thanks to the recent B*** post i got an idea to modify the front cross-member in order to lower the radiator. im looking for 4" but only got 1" from what i did. i am hoping that the new 29 shell i ordered (it being wider than the Chevy shell on the car) will sit lower on the radiator. its a repop steel shell so i can tweak it if need be. it should be here next week.

original cross-member, see how the rad sits up higher:

modified cross-member, also flipped the U-bolts so they point down, now the rad sits just on the u-bolts:

    any other ideas?

plans are to "pancake" the rad shell top to better flow with the 30 cowl top

thanks DW! hey ima call you today or tomorrow about a front pan-hard bar.

finished "pancaking" the rad shell. i think it worked out great. i lapped the top to add a raise around the filler neck. filler neck still needs to be lowered it pokes to high.

I thought you were getting rid of this car? I am glad you are still plugging away at it because I love this thing! You really have done this car justice.

jeff, i still want to sell it, cause i got other projects in mind and need the space / money. regardless of when those projects take shape i do enjoy this car and will continue to plug away at it to make it what i want till the day somebody wants to take over.

    thanks!!!

shell is done, mounted to the rad which is mounted to the cross-member. going to respray the shell cause the red oxide is a bit off, no biggy.

flows nicely wit cowl top. still need to section a piece of the radiator fill neck...

close up of the lap i made on the shell. its roughly smoothed out all in metal. im sure a couple more tack welds and smoother grit grinding would make it look almost factory...

top of shell is almost perfect with top of cowl. huge improvements to where it was before.

think i will make the rad support bars where i placed the blue tape. my other thought was to go from the center of the rad shell down to each valve cover.

also just got my F-1 shock brackets and front & rear pan-hard bar. stupid question but i have never had a front pan-hard bar, should the front and rear bar be mounted the same side ch***is, same side suspension?

We've always mounted the frame end on the drivers side, on both the front and rear kits.

    Looks awesome, Yaril!

    some updates...

front and rear pan-hard bars are done thanks to DW for the great parts! brackets worked out great and the bars were the perfect length.

also finished up the new front shocks / headlight brackets. cut and welded the F-100 shock brackets to 90 and added a mount for the headlight next to it. i blended most of the welds and sprayed it black. mounted the lower shock to the bone too. its a much cleaner look now.

also went ahead and did rad support bars. simple bars made to fit from the cawl to the shell. painted those black as well.

I think your car looks great as-is. It's a little new, a little old school and damn sure cool!! Plus, it's one-of-a-kind and got personality. Don't be anxious to change it unless it's what YOU want it to be. Advice and opinions are nice, but don't count votes...use your own.

    thanks guys!

changes are all based on what i thought the car should look like. i reference the Tardel book for a lot of the brackets and what knot. finally drove the car today and its tight. i like it, very responsive and takes bumps well. Thanks DW for the parts! love to work with new fresh parts.

today i am working on making a cross bar betweent the 2 shock mounts that will be slightly curved. last thing to do will be the grill itself. going to go with 3/16" round bar for a frame and 1/8" bars as vertical bars with maybe 1 horizontal for support. will paint it all gloss black and set it on the shell from the front via a few studs through the shell.
