Here's mine. Bought fairly recently, it was built in the 80's, but I have no history on it, as the owner/builder died shortly after completing it. The fellow I bought it from lived in Lake County, CA and bought it in 1993. At some point, it may have been in the Fresno area as that's where the black & yellow CA plates were issued. It has a 327 Chevy, 350 turbo trans, and a 10 bolt chevy II rear end. If anyone has any history on this RPU, I'd sure appreciate it.

Here's mine. I have a bed that will be removable but not very functional.

    agshelby,

I like the stance on your RPU. Its hard to beat that "back to basics" style of build on these.

    Later, Kinky6

I picked them up from a guy here on the HAMB. They are cast aluminum and about 2.75" shorter than my stock posts. I love the look - hope they are tall enough when I'm done. I may wear goggles ...

The truck will be full fendered when done. I am currently aligning the sheet metal before paint.

This is what my 29 looks like now. I recently swapped in a whole new front end (4" dropped Super Bell axle, Vega cross steer set up, etc) and did a bunch of other work, most of which didn't change the appearance, but made the truck drive 100% better. The wheel & tire change made a big difference in appearance, and I just had the seat re-upholstered, which made a big change, too. I'll re-upholster the door and kick panels to match the seat, and that'll about complete the visual changes I wanted to make. There's still more to do: re-wire the truck, rebuild the steering column, and lots of little stuff, but it's just about there, and it's a fun driver.

More progress...I've re-wired the truck, re-plumbed all the hard lines (brake & fuel), rebuilt the rear brakes, rebuilt the steering column, and the interior is now finished. I want to put a new top on it...black cloth "stay fast" marterial instead of the current naughahyde one, and then I'll consider it done. For awhile. Coming to this little debate late in the game, but what about other kinds of famous cars, like Ridler winners or even landspeed racers, that take the name of their sugar-daddy financiers, sponsors, or drivers versus builders? Just wondering. Gary

  26. Really nice RPU Craig, didn't know you had picked this up. Can't wait to see it live. Now you are faced with a dilemma, which car to take on the Reliability Run ?
